The Roadbuilders: An Introduction
I have been debating over the Role-Play potential of the different nations and have come to a few personal conclusions. I would enjoy RPing my character in any of the nations, but feel that I might be boxing myself in. If something happens in game that eventually moves me into the need or forces me to join a specific nation the character will. I do see this eventually happening but for now I want to explore something different with Kubrick.

In an effort to ensure that every interaction with the Kiwikians is an interesting RP experience I have developed the following concept. It has no nation or town affiliation, but every town/nation/nomad should expect an RP experience involving a Roadbuilder at some point. I was planning on introducing this in a RP like post. I feel that it will be easier to explain ooc. Since 2.0 isn't officially up and the RP forum has yet to be created I don't see the need post In-character....yet.

THE ROADBUILDERS

The Roadbuilders are a fraternal order and are loosely based on the ancient road-builders of Rome and the Masonic Order. There is also aspects of a monk like exsistance associated with there religious and social beliefs. Theirs is a simple life with no great need for huge material wealth. They focus on the building and maintenance of the roads of Kiwike, exploration, establishing trade routes, promote peaceful negotiations in the affairs of nations, and act as neutral arbiters when called upon. They are known for their fair dealings in Trade and Rights of Kiwikians.

They have no allegiance to any one nation, but live by the "The Laws of the Twelve Tables."

Most Roadbuilders live a nomadic life outside the comforts of civilized life. They are exploring the wilds, surveying for future road construction. They are working long hours on the roads between the great nations of Kiwike. They are deep underground searching "The Quarry," for future Corner Stones. They are forging lasting peace treaties and help settle the disputes of neighbors.

The Laws of the Twelve Tables:
.....more on this shortly

The Quarry:
A sacred site to the Roadbuilders. A large creator where the first Corner Stones where found eons ago. Many of the stones that lay the road ways of Kiwike where once cut from The Quarry.

Foundry:
The small village that surrounds The Quarry. It is home to many of the Roadbuilders that work to provide the materials that maintain the Roadbuilders operations.

Corner Stones:
Every road that is constructed by the Roadbuilders must begin and end with a Corner Stone harvested from The Quarry. The Roadbuilders believe these mystical black stones are the key to safe travel and peace throughout Kiwike.

Degrees:
Degrees are ranks and signs of status within the brotherhood of Roadbuilders.

Entered Apprentice: the degree of an Initiate, which makes one a Roadbuilder
Fellow Craft: an intermediate degree, involved in learning the laws and rules and roadways of the builders.
Expert: Has achieved great success within the workings of the Roadbuilders.
Master: A necessity for participation in the most secret of brotherhood ceremony and policy making.

Titles:
Titles are attached to the Degree's as indication of ones job within the brotherhood. All Roadbuilders will have at least one title. Most will strive to be Masters in all fields and earn the Title True Master.
Stone Cutter: Miner that works and lives within Foundry and The Quarry.
Surveyor: Explorer that lays the initial path that will become the road.
Mason: The builders of the road and structures within Foundry.
Keeper: The traders that maintain the Road as the travel. Negotiating and setting up new partnerships on their travels.
Arbiter: The judges that settle the disputes within the brotherhood and outside when called upon.

Roadbuilders are known by their highest Rank and Title. (i.e Master Mason can also be an Expert Keeper, but will be known as Master Mason.)

I will post more shortly... (work in Progress)
I'm working on this at work so bare with me....trying to get it up between customers.
