Let me divide my reasons into a few reasons, closely related things
Economic Nukery
When I shop for something, it's usually because of convenience. Lets say I go buy a diamond. If I mine for a while, I can probably get that diamond myself, but it would take much longer than walking to the nearest shop district and buying one. But, if this is implemented, shopping is a longer and more difficult process. I would have to go to the bank each time (Can't keep money on me, that'll be explained later), and then go to the shops. Now, mining for that diamond may be more efficient than walking to the nearest bank. Also, since people must go to capitals for banks, those shops in the capital would get the business, and everyone else would just be fucked
Increasing muggings
Although I rarely bank, I have heard about people staying around the bank at the Inn, waiting for people to walk in so they can steal the gold they're about to bank. This is fairly poor RP and isn't the kind of thing that the members take fondly. If this were implemented, attacks like these would increase greatly increase, further damaging the RP and the morale of the server.
