This is actually the first case I've heard of where someone accuses critically acclaimed directors and/or producers of misusing an allusion due their not knowing how to do so, believe it or not.

Ah well one I'm pretty sure the writers chose the title, and two since humans aren't infallible, it's possible they may have interpreted the myth in a way that makes sense in relation to their movie. I would further like to note that I already stated that the movie will probably be good based on the trailers (also it has fairly prolific writers.)(Which are all I have because it isn't out in the US until the 8th.) However I also don't see why you feel the need to bash me for saying that I don't like the title of a movie.

What they're saying is that you look like a smartass by saying that the writers might have made an error in the title of their movie. If you must know, Prometheus is the name of the ship, a detail which is quite apparent in the trailer. Just putting that out there.

I'm sorry but writers aren't infallible and just like you or I they can make mistakes. The name of the ship in itself is an allusion. (The movie isn't called Prometheus because that is the ship name the movie is called Prometheus because it relates to the creation of man.) Prometheus, the movie, alludes to both the creation and the destruction of mankind as well as being the prequel to alien.

I wish the movie was about the myth, however aliens are cool too I guess. Also obstinately calling someone an asshole for having a viewpoint you don't agree with isn't exactly the way we want people to act on the forum now is it.
