There is something that might work if you get stuck after teleporting, just log out and log back in, and you should appear above the block you were suffocating in. This is a form of block glitching but I'm sure it doesn't hurt anyone if used this way.

After dying several times through Admin Mode I found this to be the easiest way to avoid death. If your screen is black, signifying that you're underground, and you start to take damage, press escape and log out!

I tried that, but when I logged back in I found myself dead.
