Thing is, you don't just rent a server to use it for a couple of hours every week. Servers are payed on a monthly basis. Don't see a reason not to have them dedicated.

Although that is true, this isn't really a PvP server. Yes, we say it is, but if you have truly played on one before, you will know that this is not the case. This is more of a survival than anything. And how can you survive when you have a big portion of your population being casual players, and the rest being hard core PvPers? Those casual gamer's stand no chance. Defending your town would be smart, but you need to move away from the "Higher level pick to break through" thing. Its so easy to get a Eff 5 pick on the server right now, due to that Enderfarm, that I would be surprised if that band of PvPers didn't already have a few at hand.
