A Quest, Should You Choose To Accept It
*A strange figure strides toward you on a sheet of blinding light. You can barely make out its form, for the light upon which it stands seems to wrap itself around the being like a blanket. Finally, the figure comes to a halt, and it stretches out what looks like an arm with its palm facing outward. You are frozen in place, unable to move. Suddenly, a voice erupts out of the silence.*
Yes... You may very well be the adventurer whom I seek. But that will become clear in due time...
I understand that this may come as a shock to you. Introducing myself would be unnecessary, for you see me thousands of times a day. I exist within everything. I see all and know all.
I am The One.
I come to you seeking aid in a matter of great importance. This is something that only a mortal being such as yourself may accomplish.
Thousands of years ago, a dark taint enveloped the land. Using water blessed by my own hand, a mortal being was able to douse the source of the taint: a dark stone called The Black Rock. For many years, the taint was gone, the stone buried under the town of Blackrock, a name that I planted in a man called Cerce's head in a dream to hint at what lay beneath.
When the people of Kiwike moved from the Old Lands, The Black Rock should have stayed behind, entombed for all of eternity.
It didn't.
The cursed stone moved with the people of Kiwike, and came to a new resting place. The lands are now in danger yet again of being overrun by the taint that plagued Kiwike so long ago. It is up to you to stop it.
Think upon this proposal, adventurer. The land of Kiwike must be saved. I myself cannot touch The Black Rock, for its utter evil would corrupt my soul. Will you rise to the task, or allow your beloved world to fall into chaos and ruin?
Whisper your answer into the sky, and I shall respond with the finer points of how you must go about accomplishing the task. I assure you, it will be worth it in the end.
For now, I must leave you. Farewell, mortal. You may be Kiwike's only hope.
*The figure becomes more and more distant, and eventually disappears. You then begin to fall, down, down...
You spring into a sitting position in your bed, and realize you have been dreaming. However, you see that next to your bed is a slip of paper that reads, "Whisper to the sky, and I will answer."*
