I think its the purpose of the other player to judge the people, especialy on who gets banned or perma banned. It gets right down to who you want on the server and the mods should take the other players opinions into the equasion (SP?) People who get a bad reputation appealing for a shorter ban so they can keep doing what they were doing? Of course people want it to stay as long as possible.

I think you are quite wrong.
There is a reason we have moderators, the name itself implies why we are here.
We moderate the situation we watch, listen, and on that decide if we judge a person and how long etc.

The reason we hold ban appeals public is so that the player base can give input and help the moderator discover aspects of the appeal that might not have been stated honestly by the banned person. or other things that might have been forgotten along the way.

It is not your purpose of you to judge people, or other players, it undermines the whole system of Moderator and admins.

Also this is my opinion and might or might not be shared by higher ranked or fellow moderators.

Naamandre and SirSuba are absolutely right. On several different accounts we've made a point to allow only those involved comment.

I suppose we'll need to take a stronger approach.
