I've been using Adblock on Chrome since like 2009 so don't think you're all special. I didn't know about the video ads before the video until I watched youtube at school.

Actually, you might have meant Youtube partners. They can put ads on any of their videos. However, anyone can put ads on a single video. If your video gets a lot of views in a short amount of time, you will get a notification from YouTube that you're allowed to put ads on it.
Oh and you might ask why some videos with copyrighted music in them haven't been taken down by YouTube, well, apparently music producers can decide either to take the video down or just put their ads on the video.
