Although I hate to say it... if it wasn't for Germany, the world would not be the way it is today. In the words of J. K. Rowling, they 'did great things - terrible, yes, but great'. A few examples are these: Nazi Germany made great advances in medical procedures - however, they used live prisoners from concentration camps to see if the process would work. Many of today's modern countries model their mass transit system after Germany's - which was used in order to more efficiently move prisoners, as well as war materials and the like. Some of the 'founding fathers' of NASA came from Germany - after working on rockets that were used as bombs against Britain.
And, for the record, I for one do not view these positive outcomes as excuses for Nazi Germany's actions.
