Re: New Town Request: Droidopolis
Haha, ok. Just a quick thought but maybe we can build an inner wall here the more imprtant people or like the people in charge of important town operations like chief of police, head of railroad operation, head of defense of the town, mayor, and etc so they can plan in peace and have an extra safeguard for their belongings as they are being put to use for the sake of the town.

By the way, I won't be able to be on the server for about 4 days because
We are traveling but I will try to stay as active as possible on the forums.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Have an inner wall that we keep a Tier or two above the outer wall.

Or maybe I'll think up a Tier 5 wall just for the inner defenses  Grin

Re: New Town Request: Droidopolis
How much space of time are we planning in between? I think we should have a certain amount of citizens before each tier is added.

Re: New Town Request: Droidopolis
No particular amount of time. I thought of Tiers to give the citizens a clear objective. I'll put up the plans in great detail on the city forum showing what each tier consists of and a break-down of the materials needed. That way, everyone in the city will have a clear idea of what we need for each tier.

So, when we start the city, we need to figure out how we want the walls to run and then build the Tier 1 defenses. At that point we'll be able to calculate exactly how many resource we will need to upgrade them. It'll be easy to set up a chest to collect materials and keep the whole city up to date on how long until we can upgrade.

I agree with waiting until we have a certain number of citizens before upgrading too far. Although, I think if we took it up to Tier 3 reasonably quick, it would give Droidopolis a very cool look and make a great impression on people visiting or even looking for a place to settle. So, in other words, having our walls all big and impressive looking could actually bring citizens. That's how it works in my head, at least. Reality is probably far off. It usually is.

Re: New Town Request: Droidopolis
Of course we want it. The more people building the walls, the faster they'll get done. Especially people that are good with building large projects.

Re: New Town Request: Droidopolis
Here's a teaser of two of the towers I designed:

Click on it for a bigger image.

The tower on the left is Tier 1. The right-side tower is Tier 4. So, you can see how they evolve as they're upgraded.

EDIT: Here's an in-game shot of me testing the methods and design:

The left tower is already upgraded to T2. The right one is still T1.

Everything seems to be working as well as I expected. I am on my personal server and using the /give command for all of the materials. I'm probably going to build a stretch of it the real way. Mine materials with stone or iron tools and then see how long it will take to build. Shouldn't be too long. I've collected materials for MUCH bigger projects fairly quickly, so I'm optimistic.

I know Android is unavailable for a few days, so I'll welcome you in his place. The more citizens we have with diverse skills, the better off the city will be.
