Problem with iDie's suggestion is inactive players leaving shops around that can ruin the average. Other than that, I quite like it.
I also like the idea of being able to view what's in the chest and I don't believe it should be too hard to code (Don't quote me on that)
Edit: Didn't notice this is an entirely different thread. Oops.
That could easily be fixed by, say, making it so that if a shop goes untouched for 2 weeks, e price gets automatically set to the neutral world average.

I really feel like this is all making the simple process of buying/selling far too complicated or restricted :/

RE: A Suggestion for a New Economy System
*Whips out dictionary*
Economy: the management of the resources of a community, country, etc., especially with a view to its productivity.
Alright. So. Here's what we should focus on:
Management.
Community involvement on a grand scale.
Productivity.
Find the best way that leaves the economy open to interpretation, while still offering management, community/national/international involvement, and productivity, and BAM - we've got ourselves a rockin' server. (Reason why I say that the economy needs to be left open to interpretation is so that we can have diverse nations - otherwise, if we have a purely capitalistic server, it severely hampers some nation-specific roleplay opportunities. I'm really looking forward to seeing a United Soviet Socialist Republics of Kiwike if such an economy is brought about)
"One can concentrate so closely on the words of a sentence that one thereby misses the meaning. As can happen in any area of life. You must never lose focus on the larger landscape."

Well, me and Crazy call ourselves the United Republic and we're ruled by chairmen. Is that a good start?
