RE: CRASH 4 ADMIN 2012
I came to this thread to post pretty much exactly what Crash said, although I would probably have used fewer words so he made a better job at it.
And to add to his post. Organized roleplaying events from people who know what they're doing. For being an RP server, there is a severe lack of roleplaying. No one will meet anyone new, everyone just stick to their predecided group of friends and will go out of their way to avoid anyone new.
After this server crashed, for reasons I'm sure have been told many times, I went over to another server, which will not be named, but I might be able to send it in a PM to one of the Admins for inspiration if requested, had an entire website built around their roleplaying. The first thing I saw was huge amounts of texts about the lore, about the happenings of the server. Well written documents of large events on the server.
Very clear guidelines on what is allowed and what is not, written on a roleplaying fashion.
Very clear guidelines on what your character should be like. They had a set of races, and factions and so forth.
This is what Kiwike needs, a justification for it's selling point.
Edit: To add to this point; We need to attract more mature players. This server stinks of amateurism and as such attracts for the most part immature and not that serious roleplayers.
And before anyone flames me for this, I am not saying there are no mature players on the server.
I wish I was an insane space wizard.

There is most certainly no wiki that does such a thing around here

RE: CRASH 4 ADMIN 2012
Yeah, and how many people visit the Wiki? How obvious is the wiki?
To answer the first question: None at all.
To answer the second question: Not at all.
I am not saying you're doing a bad job Leech, it's just that your job goes largely unnoticed because of the way it is set up.
It is a non roleplaying media that is barely even mentioned anywhere that retells roleplaying. It needs to be more integrated into both the website and the roleplay.

RE: CRASH 4 ADMIN 2012
Adding to what Hoif said, I believe RP events would be great. However, we can't really do much as a server considering how free the lore is. I do enjoy having my own character, but there is nothing that particularly moves us towards any goal besides hitting each other with sticks.

RE: CRASH 4 ADMIN 2012
The biggest motivations in Kiwike right now are political. Warring factions and nations and all that. Something that would be inspiring to see would be for the national leaders to conspire with the admins about wars and various other big events. The current system could work, but the "only conquer if surrender" system lacks any real way of enforcing a victor, and everyone abused the land claiming system to dice up the map into too-huge national super chunks.
One of my character's motivations during my more active stay was solving the apparent environmental crisis. Between the corrupted creatures and huge reasonably-seismic rifts, not to mention the numerous Nether Gates people had opened, I had aspirations of questing up gear and allies until The End. How cool would it be to unite Kiwike and tackle the Ender Dragon as a whole? Damn cool.

We need something bigger than just the Ender Dragon though.. I'd say something artificial almost, but then again, fighting the minecraft AI is pure button smashing. We need an event like this - something to force us to build our nations up.
What would be great is something like Solitude to fight - a group of players who's RP is basically to play the villain (or whichever evil RP works for Kiwike). A lot of characters play villians but sacrifice their actual goal of 'world domination' for regular lives and popularity. Face it, people like having something to work toward or against, in some way or another.
The highest player activity on the whole server was during the Solitude mischief - 45 on the day of the 'peace summit', and 30 of them were in one room for a single RP event. Nobody can deny this, nor can they deny they had a good time - yet the same people that caused this were banned for the same reasons - being relentless warmongering power-hungry warriors.

RE: CRASH 4 ADMIN 2012
I like your idea, it would also give a place for the people more interested in PvP than RP who want to join the server. What you say is very true, a story isn't interesting without an antagonist and protagonist. The same is very true for any game. I'm going to have to say that I agree with crash, the server does need a "bad guy". You could even unban the solitudians (not that I support or oppose that in any way). I'm not sure how this would end up turning out like, there are obviously many ways to do this. We could have a brand new mechanic to the server, like a section in the whitelist application that asks what side do you want to be on and several plugins that support the formation of the antagonists, or a single nation like the VD that decides it wants to be at war with everyone and is where all the brand new people who are PvPers go, or many other options to implement this. However this happens, I think it will definitely benefit the server!
I still vote for Saera, but you have definitely began alter my opinion.

RE: CRASH 4 ADMIN 2012
The server that I checked out had a whole different application for villains and magic users, which is not something that I am entirely hooked on, but it ensures that only the people that can handle these kinds of things get them. Although, considering the sad state that the server is in, I'm not entirely sure that we need more things to keep players away.

RE: CRASH 4 ADMIN 2012
Most of what's being said here has already been discussed among the staff. Players like solitude do bring activity but the solitudes were douchebags who didn't know how to roleplay. I was hoping VD would try and replace them as the "evil nation " but then they backed out. Releasing wars wouldn't do hit to the server in its current state because no one wants to fight.
Anyway, I'm very much enjoying the discussion here, keep it going.
