Rules on griefing
I wish to adress the issue of the widely insufficient griefing rules.
Yes, I know, there are rules in the making. Well you know what? I don't care. Something has to be done now about these rules.

So, first of all; the issue of being able to grief as long as you replace the blocks.
Sure, it's good and all, if people make some mistakes you can always replace it and everything will be as fine as it was before.
But this also calls for some serious exploiting.
Such as; Griefing your way through an intricate redstone lock that someone spent an hour on making.

Yes I know, just protect it. But do we really have to resort to such boring actions?

I'm not saying we get entirely rid of this rule, rather clarify it so that you won't be able to get through things that are made to protect. And also disallow covering chests entirely, so that people will be more or less forced to making some kind of protection, use their imagination.
I mean, how hard is it to actually build a treasure vault for your towns inhabitants, and making a redstone lock for it, and then give everyone a place to store their stuff in there.

I believe the KoD may actually support this idea, since it gives an extra aspect of infiltration, try to get the codes for the lock, and you're in. Instead of having to deal with stupid "magic" that makes the chests inaccessible.

Oh and some may argument that some people may not have the redstone knowledge required to build such a lock.
Well then, just hire me, I'd be happy to make one for you, actually I think it's one of the most fun things in Minecraft.

I wish I was an insane space wizard.
