I don't know if you have noticed, but the amount of bot spam has gone down to zero in the last week or so. Before this, we have had a couple of bots posting here every other day.
How did we do this, you ask. It's incredibly simple.
During registration, we have earlier had a CAPTCHA to check for bots. It's one of those things with messy letters that you type in. This obviously didn't work as bots got through it, and it also gets pretty annoying for humans to fill these in.
We still have captcha, but there is one new bot prevention. You get a statement and a question. Bots can't answer this question, but any human can. For example:
The octopus had 8 tentacles. How many tentacles did it have?
To a human, the answer is very simple. But a bot can't understand the question. Genius, isn't it?
