In 1.7 you could not find any of these. If you did it was most likely MC edited. As I have found in 1.8 there are also very unique caves underground going diagonal that are about 100-200 block and about 20 blocks deep. Mobs are found in these caves especially creepers. 1.8 has also included very tall mountains that go up to the building limit. By now I'm pretty sure we've seen the new biome which is the Swamp biome. So my point is a map change because with our current map(which is outdated) we dont get these awesome features. I am also suggesting a new creative world because of the new creative mode that comes with minecraft. We could always change the map now or in a couple weeks when 1.9 comes out, which I heard we are definitely doing that.

Thank you captain obvious. Fuck that / Yao Ming

RE: 1.8 Map change
I hope we get a reset at 1.9 at the very least, because I'd like to see some RANDOMLY GENERATED ruins instead of player generated ruins Sad

And then reset it again when the full game comes out? I think that we should wait for the full game.

But I dont know how we will live with the NPC's.

RE: 1.8 Map change
We dont know what features will be added in the full release a
From what I have heard it will have no new world generation code just new items mobs ect so it may not need a reset.

RE: 1.8 Map change
I'm not going to make any final decision here but after 1.9 is released, I doubt there will be a whole lot of changes to terrain generation. My guess is that we can expect 1.9 in the beginning of October, that gives us about a month until it's out of beta.

So if we want a new map, 1.9 would be about the time.
