Study: People have too much money to spend on MMOs

Have any of you heard of Bigpoint (I think I made Andy play one of their games once). Well, they recently rolled out a $1300 item, a level 10 drone. $1300 in actual money (1000 euros), not just the games money. Well, somehow, it worked. They made 2.7 million dollars in 4 days because 2000 people bought the item. Would anyone want to inform me who would do this and why?

I donated now to Bananacraft. It isnt a good server though...

Anywhoo I played that game for about 3 months without giving any money to it. One of my friends however spent lots of money on it :p

Its known for free to play games to do it that way.

APB (All Points bullitin) recently reased a lifetime leece for a gun ingame for 50 euro.
I think that also sold huge.
There are whole studies in the free MMO lance to figure out how to get people, to buy something they dont need but is nicer to have, More xp, faster respawn etc.

I guess its only a matter of time before something like this, happend

A permanent weapon in combat arms is ~30€. It's worth it though.
