I think we should add the biome like suggested above - pay or ask an NPC to take you to a foreign land.
As far as biomes go, most of them blend relatively well into the european sort of geography - but throw steampunk/medieval era in there too and there's no way you'd stumble upon a rainforest or a "jungle" next to your medieval fortress.
This would still offer the ability to obtain new items and explore the new biome - without having monkeys and porpoises (idk what the fuck sort of animal lives in a jungle) running around our steampunk RP.

I'm for waiting for the generation. It would be nice to have a whole new Biome to have Nations/towns in. Plus, it would add a whole new sense of RP to characters, or potential rather.
Ex. Assassin that lives on the move in the Jungle. (Not the best work, but just off the top of my head.) This assassin lives in the trees day by day, etc. If he see's someone walking through he waits on a tree and snipes them with a Bow, moves around, and keeps doing it. (Again not the best.)
The only advantage to not waiting would be no delay on the release.

I'm with Crash on this one.
The theme of the server is after all Steampunk. Which means more open landscapes and normal woods.
However, they still had the capability to travel to new lands.
I wish I was an insane space wizard.

Hello everyone. I had an idea regarding the jungles. This would only work if the rest of the terrain/biome generation stays the same from 1.1 to 1.2 though.
The idea is to generate a 1.1 world and run Revamped on it until 1.2 is released. Now, when we first generate the world we would also generate a 1.2 snapshot world with the jungles using the same seeds. If everything is the same except for the jungles, we would be able to see what areas will be jungle once 1.2 is out. When it comes out, we would regenerate these areas. Before that, they would be protected.
Thoughts?
