Alright. I'm up to date on the whole Spoutcraft needs to be more developed before anything is done, etc, etc.
Well can something be done for those users that have and use Spout? I'm not talking about a reduction in the distance, but something to make it similar, if not the same as the original client. The pictures below will explain more.

Spout

The white names is something we noticed early on and I talked to Afforess about it (the lead dev), he simply said we would have to push a fix for it ourselves since no one else has said anything about it.
tl;dr: Want to get name tags in spout fixed? Spam the devs LOL

It's just one more stupid thing I have to install, also it will as Yotta has already said, drive away new members. Fact of the matter is that I am object to being required to install any mods and stuff to play on a server, it's stupid.

To be honest requiring new applicants to write a small work of fiction before joining is probably more of a deterrent than requiring spout...

So, because we are already making them do work, that justifies increasing the amount of work further? What

No, it justifies the "making you click a button".

No, it doesn't and spoutcraft is not as simple as clicking a button. In case you haven't noticed some people
- won't know what spoutcraft is
- won't want to give up their client side mods
- won't know how to install spout craft
So, yeah lots of work or sacrifice for many players.

RE: Nametags
I don't know why you hate Spoutcraft so much, Mr Riskae. You are making a few valid points but really, "won't know how to install spout craft"? That's the point Ian is trying to make, it's as simple as pressing one or two buttons. And yeah, lots of people don't want to give up their xray modsSuspicious

On a more serious note, they can still use their client mods when not using Spoutcraft. Just saying.

Besides, the number of players you have to "sacrifice" will depend on how you advertise the server. If you do like all other servers and then add to the side "oh btw guys you need Spoutcraft", then yes, not as many people would join. However, advertising the server as "a new and unique experience using never before explored parts of the amazing spout API to give players an unique Minecraft experience without the command hassling mess", then it might just get more players by being more unique.
