RE: [Coming soon] The Complete Guide to Thieving [Coming soon]
X-ray is not a thing you should count on. It is an illegal modification of the game and is therefore not used by the normal player, and once the new application system is in place, I doubt we'll get many x-rayers.
Illegal is short for strictly not allowed, if anyone missed that part of the words meaning.
I wish I was an insane space wizard.

The new rules state that we aren't allowed to put blocks on top of chests -_-
You are allowed to hide your chests. But not just pop a block on them. The difference is quite clear.
Woah, woah, woah! What?! That's a surefire way to get robbed blind by x-ray'ers!
It's not allowed because it would make locks useless.

I think the solution is limited block protection, you can hide stuff however you want but other members of you town can destroy blocks anywhere in the town. It means that you need to trust your neighbours but you can bury stuff however you like. Picks are possible to use but you have to get into a town before you can steal.

I trust my mayor and his assistant. Not his friends or newbies. Last time I trusted my neighbors, things went horribly, horribly wrong.

I'm pretty sure we're still not going with that, even though you've recommended it several times now.

Has anyone come up with another solution that makes it both possible to steal stuff and to have griefing protection?
I can't imagine the system we're working with functioning all the same with those implications.

That might help the problem, but if your a theif then you'll probably be close to the chest. I don't know many theives who look for chests wih telescopes...

We could make it so that every block in a chunk looks like stone until a player walks into that chunk. Only problem is this will cause huge lag for the server so it wouldn't be worth it.
