"It takes a lot of hard work to be a good person."
QFT

Although on that note I would offer this:
Quote:The total number of Humanitarian Aid workers around the world, has been calculated by ALNAP, a network of agencies working in the Humanitarian System, as 210,800 in 2008. This is made up of roughly 50% from NGOs, 25% from the Red Cross/ Red Crescent Movement and 25% from the UN system.[1]

The humanitarian fieldworker population has increased by approximately 6% per year over the past 10 years.

Why shouldn't we be using Youtube to communicate problems? Or did you mean something else?

He means to say that it for our us to notice what has been going on, it's literally had to have been thrown right infront of our faces on Youtube.

It's bad, or maybe not that bad. It shows that one, things have to come into our domain rather than us seeking them out but also how great the systems we use really are.

I wouldn't say it needs to change, it's just different from reading the newspaper which is in it's essence, the same thing.

Almost on the money. What I meant was that the younger population needs to see the world's problems on sites like YouTube or Facebook in order to actually be informed about the world, which is a bad thing because only the organizations with the money or all-around resources to fund a large-scale advertisement will actually reach the world's youth. People don't go on YouTube to be informed about the world's problems (usually); they visit the site to be entertained. I think we (in the most collective sense of the term) need to start actually getting up to speed on the world's problems by going to news sites. My main point, I suppose, is that people are trying to seem politically aware by talking about Kony, when they have really just watched a video that has reached viral proportions. Many teens would stutter if asked what other evils are going on in the world other than the actions of Kony.

YouTube would function is the same way as a news site so I think what is going on isn't necessarily bad. YouTube could easily make a transformation to become a news site, and in fact, probably already has. Like I said, in essence the two are the same.

Although, Gecko, I think what you're on about is that fact that we go to YouTube to be entertained, as you said, and not to become informed and such. With that I can agree, but I think becoming informed whilst being entertained in one place, on one site, is quite efficient. Of course, there are several other variables such as whether or not a person is going to click on these news-oriented videos or not, which most would not.

All in all, I agree the majority of people who know about Kony only know what that video had to offer them.

I know this is a little off topic, but I was reading through the posts and I was wondering.... What does:

And please don't edit this; I can't find what cba means on google. I know. I suck.
