This is part of the reason we need block protection on towns--to build walls and have a ground the enemy can't simply dig through, because in reality that's bloody difficult, it's why people prefer to siege castles rather than start hacking at it with pickaxes (or axes in the case of wood).
ETA: Of course, a town should be assailable, though still somewhat difficult. Things like an actual castle should be incredibly difficult. Further, the players probably shouldn't tunnel directly beneath their town, they should mine somewhat away from it or have a special area put aside, otherwise that may open them up to attack.

Once you know the enemy can't just come at you whenever you feel like it, it's actually possible to have a defensible position. Without that defense you're simply too vulnerable to being attacked at any time.

The raiders also have serious consequences for their behavior (or they should anyways)--they're known raiders, which means that in the future any other town or nation should be hesitant about trusting them, and actively forbid trading or otherwise helping them on any level.
This is where metagaming will really become a problem, people will be inclined to forgive people they know IRL, even though the character they play is a dick and shouldn't deserve anything of the sort.

In books and plays people are not senselessly killed read Game of thrones please. Than tell me people are not senselessly killed in books and plays. and again, I don't need to know a person's life story to know I want them dead. The reason that I would kill you (Not saying I will as this is all OOC,) is because they follow someone that I don't like. People are not running around senselessly killing eachother, It all has reason I'm assuming you are living with Coras and friends yes? If so than people are killing you because they hold grudges against Coras, and every person who is well armed and willing to fight with him is a threat. So they kill you. I'm not supporting the raids on Coras' people, and I am not saying that sometimes people are killed unfairly, but that happens in real life, and in fantasy.

and again, there are other things besides killing and raiding in this server, you just have stayed in one area that is getting raided constantly so you haven't had a chance to experience anything else.

For one, I live in hyperion, I have no idea coras is, I joined hyperion because I wanted to be a farmer and supply food to the town. To your comment about not having to know someone to know you want them dead...Thats just plain stuipid.i'm sorry, but it is. This is RP, How in the world can you justify killing someone if you don't even know them. how do you know they aren't just visiting the land? I'm glad to hear you don't support the raids.
If you want to make RP as realistic as possible. Why not add raping? And perma death. Why not just throw in a holocaust in the second age? No? Thats because people do fantasy to ESCAPE REAL LIFE.
p.s. If I am just in an area that is plagued with raids, Then what area isn't that wouldn't involve me having to side with the same people who were doing the raids?

Ever heard of the island of Melos? It was an island settlement during a war between the Spartans and Athenians. Melos was peaceful and had almost nothing to with the war, except for the fact that it was ruled by Sparta. The Athenians sailed to Sparta and demanded that the people there thrown down arms and give them their goods. The Melians came out and told them that they had nothing to do with the war, that they were peace loving. They told the Athenians that they had no right to take their goods. The Athenians responded like this :
"It doesn't matter, you're supporters of our enemies and simply add to their strength. You cannot claim that you have nothing to do with the war and that you simply want to be left alone when you do have relativity to the war."
I for one am neutral in this cause at the moment. But the raiders have a point, you cannot simply say that you have no right to raid us and that you're innocent when you DO have an effect on the war.
All is fair in love and war, now form a militia and stop crying.

This I do not agree with. There is a difference between genocide and war. Unless a victim is threatening you or attacking you during a raid, there is no reason to walk up to them and kill them.
