Journal of the Final Cell

((I highly recommend you read my application before reading the journal entries.))
((Everything written in this journal is part of the lore for my character, Michael Gaccel.))
((Updated regularly.))

Entry 1, Date: Past

Hello. My name is Michael Gaccel, which i'm sure you have figured out already as you are reading my Journal. You are about to delve into all of my thoughts and emotions throughout my days, so prepare yourself.

I suppose the best place to start first would be, the past.

I opened the door, to find the welcoming sight of a friendly Adolescent face gleaming with joy and excitement. "You will never guess what I found" he whispered.
"Why are you whispering Chamber, there is nothing to hide here. Mother is gone and the neighbors have long since moved out."
"I'm a little freaked out is all, here take a look."
I'm not sure which was more hilarious, the beat up broken sword Chamber held, or the baffled look on my face. "What about it? It's a beat up sword, nobody will buy it."
"It's not the sword that is amazing, it's the idea that it inspired".

"I'm surprised we didn't think of it before Chamber, I mean, it seems only reasonable. Both of our fathers died out there protection their loved ones, it seems only fit we carry on their duty." I said, still starting at the sword with bemused amazement.
"I know, but there is one problem..."
"What?, Spit it out already!".
"Ok, they don't allow untrained teenagers on the walls and out patrolling the fields, now do they?"
"Well no, but even I could of thought of that, I guess we have no choice but to just wait it out until we are eighteen and then get some training from the academy."
"Are you crazy, an idea good enough to make our Mothers proud cannot wait that long, it's time we do something with our lives Michael, and I know just who can help us."

We sat patiently at the door of a run down hut bordering the walls, waiting for old Maser Kernell to come out. It seemed as though it took hours, but he finally showed.
"Can I help you?"
"Hi, yes. My name is Chamber, and this is Michael, we seek your training."

"My training in what?" You could see the amused glint in his eyes and he began to tease us.
"Weapons of course" Chamber saw it too, I know he did. But he stood tall and confident none the less.
"Weapons eh? I have long since retired, and I have reached an age where that could be quite.. difficult to teach."
"Difficult never stopped the outsiders from killing our fathers" It sounded more aggravated than I would of liked.
All he did was stare at me, and didn't take his eyes off for what seemed like minutes.
"Ok, I will help you. On one condition, you put this talent of mine to good use."

Our training began the next day, you could feel the tension in the air as Chamber and I waited for our first task.
"Attack me"
"WHAT?!" We screamed in unison.
"Are you crazy old man, we don't wan't to hurt you on our first day of training."
All he did was laugh as he twirled his sword in the air.
"You really think you have a chance to hit me, silly young ones."
I charged, anger flowing through my body, eyes filled with fury. I hated being mocked, and it was my time to shine, or so I thought.

Not a single blow hit him. Chamber was right beside me the whole time, throwing punches and jabs at him like mad, we dropped our heavy swords a while ago, but that stopped the old man none the less. He just chuckled and deflected every punch with the flat of his blade, or just hopped out of the way.

'You are not as weak as you seem.." I barely got out of my mouth, as I took another deep breath to try to control my breathing.
"Your right Michael, he is not weak at all, how did you do it old man?" Chamber said in the same condition as me.

With just a few drops of sweat on his body, breathing normal, feeling just as before the fight even started. He said the sentence that we would have to abide by for the rest of our lives.
"You fought with anger, not purpose, that is your fatal flaw."

Entry 2, Date: Past

By the age of 19, Chamber and I had long finished our training with Kernell, and decided against joining the guard of our local town. We even took Kernell's advice of taking apprentices
of our own. These three students where known as Entrell, Stint, and Krease. Each with their own unique past, and each with their own unique abilities.
Entrell for example, was an exquisite archer. When training with the two others, he used arrows with red-tipped feathers to determine which where his, and which weren't. Easy way to put it, he rarely missed.
Stint on the other hand was a blacksmith's son. Making him skilled in the use of blunt, and heavy hammers. His training dummies usually did not stay in once piece for long.
Last but not least, Krease. Krease was a well rounded fighter, but his best weapon was his own two fists. Allowing the enemy to underestimate him, and making it an easy take down.

With Chamber's and I's combined effort, we helped these three men reach the peak of their power within the year. Allowing for us to relax, and for them to continue the line and take on their own apprentices.

Thus, was born the Big Twenty.

The Big Twenty were the twenty leaders of the WU. They were known for being undefeated in nearly every battle, and being loyal to the guild. All of the twenty, with the exception of Chamber and I, learned from another in the twenty. It was a giant line of apprentice and master. There was only on major flaw in this system, we all knew each-others weaknesses, and it wasn't long before things went bad.

Kernell had just died of natural causes, a painless death in his sleep. We all grieved, but none where as bad as Chamber or I. We let our emotions get the best of us, and became weak for a period of time. Chamber and I being the true leaders of the guild, being the first to learn from Kernell, where responsible for it's actions. Well, the others got smart, and realized we were weak, and took this advantage.

They began hosting fights, well before Chamber and I returned from our battered state. Charged the villagers for bets and tickets to watch. Sending in two of the new recruits to fight to the death. This happened for months before Chamber found out, and he told me first thing afterwards. I was furious, but realized the point he was getting at.
They all knew about it, and if it hasn't stopped now...

We wen't to the only other three people we knew we could trust, and recruited them. It's ironic, seeing as we based the name off a commonly used guard term.

"Off the the five cells with you, and let you rot in every single one"

A simple term really, meaning you would get what was coming for you. I'm not sure any of us really grasped the meaning of the term until much later.

We formed the Five Cells in secrecy. Me, Chamber, Krease, Stint, and Lurk all included.

They would get what was coming for them.

The door burst open, and Chamber came running in.
"Michael, Krease, board the windows, lock the doors, and prepare your weapon."
"Chamber Wh-"
"DO IT.
Without further question, I did as I was told. Within minutes, Chamber, Krease, and had the windows boarded, and the doors locked.
"Chamber, should we wait for Stint and Lurk?"
"Michael... I don't know how to put this..
"No...."
"The got to them."
"How did they know... how did they find out...
I'm not sure Michael. I was sitting at my house this morning, and Vanessa came running in, crying."
"Vanessa? Lurk's wife?"
"Yes... Lurk died Michael. He died protecting her. If she didn't get to my house in time, I wouldn't of been able to sneak her out the back and send her out o town. They were chasing her Michael."
"Bastards... all of them. But what about Stint? "
"Lurk found him dead, it looked as though he was sleeping in the stables waiting for someone, i'm not sure..."
"So it's just us three then? But i'm still confused, why are we hiding in my house?"

About then, Krease jumped then. He was silent the whole time, I almost forgot he was there.

"Michael, they must know about us."
"How Krease?"
"I'm not sure, Chamber? There is no other reason to board up the house like this."
"Its true Michael. Krease is correct. They know...."

Then, the door was bashed in.

Entry 4, Date: Past

"Well, well, well. What do we have here? The three amigo's, hiding in their household. How adorable."
"Entrell..."

Chamber and I said it unison. Our old apprentice.
"Masters. Your time has come."
"We trusted you Entrell, Michael and I trusted you. But look at you now, you lead what will be our downfall."
"So very true, master. You see, you are to kind, to gentle, to be of any use to me."

And on that note, Entrell attacked.

Chamber was the one to whip out his sword in time to block the attack. It was aimed at me, and I cringed as I saw it coming. But the clang of metal brought me back.

"Krease, Michael, GO! The rest are coming, make what i'm about to do worth it."
"Chamber..."
"Michael, GO! There is no time.. remember me."

The rest of the Big Twenty came it at the exact moment. They eyed the three of us. Krease and I already at the end of the hallway, and Chamber fighting Entrell at the doorway. They came to their leader's rescue.

As Krease and I turned the corner, we heard Chamber's battle cry, and then the sound of breaking bones.

"Goodbye old friend..."

Krease and I were already in the Kitchen. He started tearing apart the wood on one of the windows. One piece, two, three. The window was open. And it was not a pretty sight. The whole WU guild stood outside, waiting. And Krease jumped out, willingly. I followed.

"Look at this Michael." He shouted.
"Our old friends, our apprentices. They have all betrayed us."

Something in Krease changed...

"I guess if i'm going down, they are coming with me"

And he charged. I was right behind him. And it started raining. Not water, but arrows. I pulled up my hood, and kept running. We didn't stand a chance against fully geared archers and a good amount of men. I just hoped Krease was behind me. And as I turned around, I was filled with joy.
That was quickly destroyed.
Krease was behind me alright. And he was trying to catch up. As I slowed to a stop, I saw the end of his life. An arrow struck him, straight through the heart, and it killed him instantly. As he toppled over, lifeless, I saw something. The arrow, had a red tipped feather.

I ran, and didn't stop. Through a jungle, over trees, and I didn't stop. The arrows stopped quite some time ago, and my robe was shredded, but I never stopped. I finally realized, that running was getting me nowhere, and I was exhausted. I found a good small cave, and lit a camp fire. I took out my journal, and began to write.

Entry 5, Date: Present

The jungle whirled by my face as I ran past, a mish-mash of vines, leaves, wood, and other creatures mixed in. I had not a care in the world as I ran, with the exception of my life. My bare feet gripped the grass as I jumped over the piles of vines, and ran over the hills. I could faintly hear the echo of footsteps crushing leaves as I ran through the jungle, they were on to me. I ran for what felt like hours, jumping over ravines, hiding out in caves. It seemed as though they would never stop following me, until I reached the coastline. I made an immediate dash for the water, toes gripping the wet sand, I launched myself in and used my momentum to push me forward as I dived into the welcoming ocean.
When the water met my body, I felt at home. My village was built on the coastline, fishing, swimming, was all an essential to living back then. But now, it proved to be a handy skill. As i swam beneath the waves, I could make out figures emerging from the jungle onto the coastline. All of them I recognized, the guild was following me. I kept my distance from them, staying underwater, and only coming up for breaths when the waves permitted cover. I ended up having to drift, my legs worn out from the hours of running in the jungle, and my arms a necessity to keep my body afloat. I let the waves carry me, far from the coast, and far from the old land. I drifted like this for hours, in and out of consciousnesses, exhaustion slowly taking over, before I heard it. The noise sounded like a gigantic waterfall, but as if you were in it. And it wasn't long before I found what was emitting this strange noise. An opening in the earth, slowly swallowing the ocean from below. A massive whirlpool. By the time I saw it, It was already too late, and I was sucked in. I fought with all my might, kicking with my feat, paddling with my hands, but eventually, I had to succumb to its mite, and I was taken under.
I don't know what knocked me back into my senses, the face of the deadly green creature, or the sound of my bones breaking.

Entry 6, Date: Present

The cracking of my bones echoed through the cave, I wasn't sure which one broke, and I wasn't wasting time trying to find out. The creature started at me through a crevice in the wall, and I started back. It slowly started to turn around, before it made a mad dash through the hole and right at me. I jumped up and ran at it, slid to its side, and watched the confusion on its face. Time to have fun.
The creature spun around, and started to... gallop? On its four legs. Slowly making its way towards me. I reached down for my sword, attached to my belt, and realized what broke. My arm. My right arm is my dominant arm, and this proved to be a problem, the creature was gaining on me, and my arm was immobile. So I ran.
Running, using my bare feet to my advantage, gripping the rough stone with my toes and using it to propel myself forward, it wasn't long before the creature was long behind me. But another problem, presented itself. I was in a dark, damp, and small cave, with no exit, and i'm exhausted from the activities of the day, running, swimming, my body can not take anymore. So I slept. I'm not sure how long I slept, because there is no time of day down here, I'm not sure where I am in this cave system, or where I cam down. But something must be done about this arm.
I unfastened by belt, let my sword, pickaxe, and other tools drop to the ground in a clatter of metal, and fastened the belt around my shoulder and arm in a make shift swing.
That solves one of my many problems, but now all I can do form my arm is wait and let it heal. But i'm still stuck in this cave system, with monsters of all the sort. Grabbing the sword with my left hand, I spun it around in my usual manner, testing my grip, and getting a feel for the shabby piece of iron.
Kernell taught us how to fight with both hands, in case this exact situation came up, but its been quite some time since I used my left hand. Still swirling the sword in the air. Striking it against a nearby stone, created a spark, and for a flash, I could see the enclosure I was in. A circular room, naturally formed, enclosed on all sides except for a man sized hole on one corner. Perfect to set up my home, for who knows how long? I took the sword, and hit the rock a few more times, I needed to see if there was anything of value to help me survive in this hole. The first thing that took to my eye, was some coal. Luckily me, I managed to carry some sticks from village with me when I left, the wood was great for repairing my sword when my handle decided to snap. Gripping my pickaxe[/b] with my left hand, I began to harvest it.

The next page has a lone sentence on it. "Not soon after, is when I met him." Clearly, this has to do with the next eighteen pages missing, someone wanted information on "Him".

Entry 25, Date: Present

I departed from that man I mentioned earlier, he is quite strange for a Dwarf. As I returned to my home, I scavenged for food in the nearby forest. Grabbing the wild melons as they appeared in the brush, and the spare wheat as I saw necessary. I soon came across an area, a small pond really, with a lone egg sitting on a lily pad. I was educated well enough to know upon touching the egg, that the parents would not return, so I sat, and waited.

I used the soft brush, and the nearby tree's to create a makeshift bed. If the parents were not to show in twenty-four hours, I would take the egg back home and make a nice meal. When I awoke, I not only found the egg to be broken, but the bird within was sitting on my lap. Blue feet, ruffled feathers, and a sharp beak, staring right at me. I'm not sure why I said it, but the first word to my old meal, was "Simon". I now have two mouths to feed.

Entry 26, Date: Present

I woke up this morning in a state of shock, I had the same nightmare as before. It seems to come and go, but its getting more frequent. The thing with this one, it doesn't change, and it never disappears from my memory, like the others. It has the same sequence of events, one after the other, all ending with the same event, my death. I shrugged it off like I do every time this happens, sulking out of bed with Simon at me feet, and preparing for the day ahead. Today, was like any other day.

I crawled out of the hole I call home, and began the trek to the Amos. I feel as though I live there, I spend so much time interacting with their citizens I might as well, but I can't. It would interfere with... it. As I entered the towns massive gates, I noticed something, that I never noticed before. Amos was changing at a face rate. A new clinic, new members, every changing buildings. Yet I remained the same, concealed person that I am today. Why is that? Why do I not change, where as Whitey seems to have something new on his mind every day. Is it just in my nature, or does it have to do with what I have involved myself in. I remain the same, emotionless, shell, no matter the situation. Wether it be the near death of a "comrad", or love struck for another, I don't change. Why is that?
