You're crazy! PCs are way better than macs, not even taking into account the cost! for that amount of money, you could get a PC that is much more reliable, powerful, and will give you better options for the future. I don't know what you are going from there, but all gaming computers are PCs because of the cheaper cost for the same parts, better upgrade-ability (or should I say any upgrade-ability), more options to begin with. If you are going for being able to play any game with decent FPS on anything higher than bare minimum settings, then you need something much more powerful than any mac cheaper than $2500, a home-built $1000-$1500 PC sounds like the right choice to me. However, I do agree that the mouse that asdf recommended is awesome.

No PC is more reliable. We have a PC, and it is the most unreliable piece of shit you can buy. There is always issues with the hardware and software, Microsoft can't make a decent os, thats why they replace their old one every year. And I dont mean they add a few things to better the experience. They scratch the old one and try to make something better, which ends up being just as buggy as their old system. Plus, on macs you can run Windows if you really want to now. Have been able to for years (since they started using intel based chips). My four year old iMac can run most new games (sc2, d3, ext) on medium with decent FPS.

Dont get me wrong, gaming on a PC obviously is better for the game selection, but I'd rather use something that makes since and is easy to use and navigate.

The other issue with getting a completely new PC, excpecialy when you have a say $1000 budget, is you dont get to spend what you really are going to want to spend on parts. You have to get a new monitor, mouse, leopard, the actual os, external speakers, everything. That right there can cut you one fourth or one third short of your actual budget, that is of course if you want to buy decent stuff.

Plus, can you get a 12 core unit with PC? I think not.

Asdf, I've heard stories about Macs day in, day out. Rarely are they good. If a problem arises with a part, they charge far more than market value, not to mention the base computer being far worse for your money than an Alienware. You miss a LOT in software potential, and there's much less customization. I have very rare problems with my PC, only having an occasional crash due to my Power Supply. My five-year-old Dell can run most new games the same way yours can

Building is better, or so I've heard, due to the fact that you can interchange parts extremely easily when the time comes to upgrade.

My parents didn't allow me to build my pc in fear of me breaking something. result: huge assembly cost and they put a seal on the case which doesn't even allow me to clean the dust out of it.

I know people who have made the mistake of buying a prebuilt one because they're too lazy to build one themselves. They're the same people who are asking me for advice about upgrading less than a year after buying it. Without knowing what's actually in the computer.

Tl;dr: Definitely buy it in parts. Prebuilt computers are shit. You will know your way around the computer, have a defined list of what parts are in there, have cables and extra screws and all that for upgrading it later which you don't get when buying a prebuilt PC. And you usually save a load of money.

No Leech... You miss out on a lot of software on PC... Mac has a much wider array of software, Macs are generaly used for everyday use and editing. There are much, much more specialty programs on Mac than on PC. You can get the generic cheap stuff on PC but a lot more specialty, better software on a Mac. As thats what they are made and used for. Look in most studios (tv, music, radio, ext) and you'll see they are using Macs. I mean, sure you dont get a huge case to sit next to your feet, and you get a generic, boring plastic monitor and ext, atleast with a Mac, they look really nice. We have had a few problems with parts since we got into Apple in 2002, you know what happened every time? We brought it to the apple store. They told us straight up what was wrong. And they repaired it for free. Twice they did it and our warranty was up. My dad had the first airport extreme wireless router and an issue came up with it. He brought it in and they gave him the newest/more expensive model.

I put all the parts used to make this computer about two years back, (the same specs) and came to a total that was I think 300 below the price of this computer. That was just the components though. I would have had to add the monitor, keyboard, and mouse. (The mouse they include in their desktops are $80 new, not overpriced, its just the price of them, they are the touch screen mouses, I havent seen any other brand with em).
