Roleplaying for Dummies
I've noticed that this server has a serious case of Idontwanttoroleplayitis. The intent of this post is to ease the members of Kiwike into the idea of assuming the role of a character in a world much more real than the one we see on our screens. Don't worry, I'll be brief; my goal isn't to bore you, but to relieve you of boredom in-game.

Why role-play?

Well, Minecraft is a REALLY unique game in which nearly anything within the limits of reason is possible. We roleplayers take advantage of this rare opportunity and imagine, even if for just a few minutes, that the game world is real. Actors, writers, and avid readers will have an easy time with this, but less literature-inclined folks will likely have to get used to the prospect of being someone else. There are 3 easy steps to take before roleplaying:

1. Create your character (optional, but recommended)

Don't worry, this isn't Dungeons & Dragons. All you need to do here is come up with a name and vague background and you're good to go. It's very likely that your character will become much more fleshed out the more you play as them.

2. Look both ways before you cross the street.

Before roleplaying, you need to:

a) Set your chat channel to local.
b) Make sure everyone around you knows you're roleplaying so you don't look like an idiot.

3. Roleplay!

Just act as you think your character would normally act. Go on epic quests, and even make up stories as you go along for both awesome results and a great practice in improvisation. Think Shadow of Israphel, but completely impromptu. Cool, right?

Well, that's my shpiel. Remember that you only have to roleplay when you feel like it; it can be as easygoing or hardcore as you like. It's a lot of fun, and Kiwike is a perfect environment to do it in.

Love,
Gecko

Aww, common... I ragequit for a bit and you had to go and make a better guide than me...

"One can concentrate so closely on the words of a sentence that one thereby misses the meaning. As can happen in any area of life. You must never lose focus on the larger landscape."
