My Future
Hey guys. Being in the latter stages of highschool, there's a lot of pressure on me to decide on a career, but I honestly have no clue. I scored better than 97% of Americans in highschool on my pre-SAT, so it looks like I'll stand a chance of being accepted into most colleges. The whole reason I'm saying this is because I'd like some suggestions about possible careers. Anything would do, except the illegal things.

Have at it.

Business.

One of the only careers where jobs will never disappear, because they honestly can't. Because it's the backbone of the economy. That's what I plan on getting a degree in.

You wot?

RE: My Future
Actually, Software Engineering. Because it's awesome, you usually get payed well and you can do whatever you want while code is compiling without no one caring. And it's also future proof.

RE: My Future
I've looked into Software Engineering and plain engineering before. I went through an auto-tech phase, and then looked into MIT but decided to screw it cause of all the math. Then I looked into software engineering and.... damn. Why is math part of everything? I suppose I'd be able to do it if it was working on games, or virtual reality, or virtual reality games, but I wouldn't want to work at some big places like ubisoft or EA. Maybe something bigger than Mojang, but less than Halo 2 era Bungie. And here's an added twist: I want to be able to make some impact on the world. I guess since video games are everywhere, if I could make an artful, emotional plot with decent gameplay than it can be done. But with that I'm moving away from coding and into planning and design. I'm not sure, but if someone can list all the professions that go into making a game that'd be great.

EDIT: On Yotta's first comment, I watched a documentary the other day called "Evacuate Earth". It was really good, if you guys can find it you should watch it. But essentially, if a nebula star was headed towards Earth and would destroy it in 75 years, it was about how the human race would evacuate the planet to find a new home. Spoiler Alert: Only 250,000 people fit, and the privately funded ships for the celebrities blow up.

Sounds cool. Here it is on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFgJ7Hss1VA

Sucks that you don't enjoy math. Any kind of software development pretty much requires you to like math or it will be a nightmare.

If you wanna make an impact on the world without math... well.... I dunno. Could become some useless celebrity that no one will give a fuck about in a hundred years. At least there'd be a Wikipedia page about you.
