Dwarf Fortress Succession Game!
Welcome fellow minecrafters. To the epic saga of... Trailedrelic, the fortress I have created just today. I hope to have some fun in this god forsaken hell hole, and I will update this post as I go through our dwarfy year. Dwarves, diggy diggy me some hole!

Epic greeting screen, huh.

Our miners have begun work on the soon to be crafting area in the first "dirt" layer. I really need to learn how to take screenshots in this game...
Just figured out image copying through the magic of google. Expect some images soon.

Sorry for quality and size, but it does the trick Tongue

Holy crap. these dwarves can be REALLY fast at setting up workshops when they want to be.

We have started up our industry, still running out of the wagon outside, but I have ordered construction of a wall for our entrance, due to the mention of saltwater crocodiles when the map started up. My miner is almost done with the crafting hall, so the sleeping quarters are next on our list. I hope to hit some shallow deposits of copper and iron ore before the bed quarters are finished.

I've struck galena in part of the crafting hall setup, and cinnabar will probably come in handy when trading comes up.

It appears it is now summer in this part of the world! We almost have our fishery up at the river's fork near the edge of the area we arrived in, and the trade depot will be completed within the season, provided our migrants come and the road is finished on schedule. I haven't done any real mining yet, but as soon as the dining hall and storage area is completed I will order a staircase to be constructed into the depths of the land. Here's a shot of the dining and storage area...
The reason part of the upper area is not designated is due to a small pond above it. And here's a shot of our depot, soon to be walled off and have a staircase directly out of our almost-completed farm up to it.
Of course, I captured the pic as soon as the road designation stopped flashing :/

Success! Our miners have drained the pond above the storage room through careful channeling, and now we can finish work there. On another note, it is now summer.

Oh good, the migrants have finally arrived! One moment while I check out our population...
Yes! 5 new workers for the fortress, and some food, plus some new animals. This is very good.

Oh my god, we have a high master cook! What luck, easy meals shall be made! as soon as the dining hall is finished, I hope someone organizes a part XD

It is now Autumn! Not much has happened, so far. As you can probably tell. The farm now has a floodgate so that when we release the water building up it will be maximum output instead of as much of a trickle of water as we can get.

I will say now that we desperately need food, but that's the good thing about a high master chef, good food can be made with little to no refuse. I just had a cow and a bull slaughtered, so that should help as far as meals go. I also found out that my expedition leader was completely useless at the start, so I made him a cook and he's starting to catch on well. Made some really good food the first 2 or 3 times he went into the kitchen.

Ugh, construction on storage and the dining hall is going severely slower than originally planned. But good, we have migrants! Hopefully this will work out well for us. Here's an update on the halls, not much, but something:
Also, this wave of migrants put us up to 16 people. I really hope this helps out as far as building goes.

THE FINAL CHAPTER OF MY RULE:
It appears we have FOUR god damn craftsdwarves. Some are useful, the others... not so much. I set 2 of them to mining, but I don't think we have the picks for them. My forges will get right on it, now if only we had some refined coal...

I have no idea why my dwarves are so stupid, but apparently sleeping and loafing off is less important than the making of one, ONE, copper pick. I swear, these guys are making me want to abandon the place before it gets any worse. Hopefully the next wave of migrants in winter will have a good metalsmith, and some picks, perhaps some ores as well.

Aaaand there it is, the announcement I was waiting for...
I hate how these guys do things...

Thank goodness, I finally sorted out a problem we've had with the water system near the crops! Apparently the area I had closed off was still leaking, right onto the old stairwell. I figured I could just remove the stairs and build a floodgate, but what I didn't realize was that the stairway wasn't actually there, instead it was only a downward stairway into the stockpile room, no way to get up. So I patched over it with some flooring and it's good as new, plus we can use that square for farming now Laugh

Sweet! Caravan and migrants! This is veeery good. I hope there's a miner in here...
No miners :/ But there are now 16 residents of this fortress, 6 of which are farmers of course...
Oh well, always have the caravan. Now, NEED SHTUFF FOR TRADING!!! Rock crafts being made now.

'Tis winter now, and not much has happened over the time between the migrants coming and now. The biggest thing we've accomplished is the clearing of the dining, storage, and main hall of all stone obstructions.

The merchants have left, after being extremely unreasonable and taking NONE of our goods for the things we need. Oh well, we'll survive until next one comes.

Alright, I have a plan for right before spring. I will release the water being held by my makeshift dam. Hopefully it will fill the farm area I mined out at least enough for a good amount of crops to be set up next year.

RELEASE THE KRA- I mean CARP!!!

Worked better then expected!

Well, the farms will soon be operational... everything is going as planned, also, the dining room used to be FANTASTIC but now it's just legendary, which is better but I like the title FANTASTIC more.

Seeing as we're doing so well, I've instructed the miners to make a stairway straight down from the area our wagon was. (future rulers may or may not know why this is extremely significant, but DO NOT STRAY FROM THAT 2x3 AREA!!! If you do and you plan to go to hell at least SLIGHTLY safely, then you better pray there's multiple adamantine shafts) I have currently designated it to go down about 20 levels into the ground. I hope to hit a cave before the end of this year.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!! I don't have any refined coal you idiot metalsmith! Go make your own! God, this really is starting to make me annoyed, I just want some copper for a pick!
Thank god, he actually made a mix up there. We ran out of ORE, not refined coal types. All I need to do now is wait a bit for more coal and for the idiot to drop off the bars in the stocks, then we can have some more miners.

It is now spring! Today is a very special day, the day the fortress is handed over to kbrown, future ruler. Here's a final shot of the fortress and its stocks:
Aaaaand here's the stocks:
This is the final moment of my life, in this fortress, for now. It is the 7th year of the world's existence, and the fortress is doing well. There is much to be done here, and the land is nearly untouched. My biggest accomplishment in this entire rule was the dining hall, and the second biggest was the farm area. Good luck kbrown, enjoy the game.

EDIT: currently looking for more future rulers of the fortress! Message me on these forums if interested. EDIT TWO: sorry, woundscholar got deleted due to a cruel fate of the game freezing up and my comp crashing because I was doing shit earlier :/
