In a bad way.
It's an article about the construction of the Utah Data Center, capable of storing a yottabyte of data, which the NSA will use in conjunction with their new and improved government supercomputers to amass and store any and all electronic information they can hoard from anywhere in the world, but particularly in the U.S.
Sounds like someone took Dan Brown's idea and ran with it.
Seriously, this is freaky as $%^& though.
I wonder how long we're going to be feeling the effects of the knee-jerk reactions we got after 9/11 . . .
I don't suppose we could just up the standard encryption rate beyond 256-bits? How about a 1024-bit encryption rate? Or 4096?
Because that would be hilarious, if we could essentially render all that money and time a near-total waste.
Although it wouldn't help stop them from decoding all the info they have. It'd be nice if the codemakers could get back into the race as well.
P.S. @#$% the Patriot Act.
I'm in a bad mood today--weather has temporarily heated up to spring levels. It's made me pissy. :S
