Rawther's Quests
Chapter I: The Flaming Sword
Part 1: The Arena
Time Period: Medieval
Objective: Obtain the Flaming Sword hidden inside of the Shrine of Agony guarded by Pyrachron, the 1st abomination.
It was late. The sun had descended hours ago and midnight followed. It was approximately 2 a.m. I rolled in my bed and stumbled off, crashing to the hard, wooden floor. If only our antique woolen rug was still here. And then, the door creaked open ever so slightly. Alert as always, I grabbed my rusted iron sword and prepared to attack.
"Rawther! It's me, Evan!" he cried.
"Why are you here?"
"For early training, of course!"
He sprinted through the door, lost his footing, and tumbled down the stairs. I shook my head and followed. The next thing I knew, I was running to beat him to the Academy of Young Knights. I won, and he came in after me six minutes later.
A heavily equipped guard balanced his spear to the left of me and grunted. He pushed me with the steel mallet in his other hand. I tripped and he coughed under his breath. Soon enough I was entering the arena with a wooden sword in one hand.
"Today, young Rawther is challenging the forbidden, terrifying Algox!"
The Algox teared through the prison chamber and tossed both guards aside like toys. It was shaped like a dragon, except it had spider-like legs and its tail was on fire. A wooden sword they gave me. I was expected to slay an Algox with a wooden sword.
Its needle tipped legs lacerated my face and clawed through my left eye. I yelped in pain and stumbled backwards. The fiery tail crashed down next to me and exploded with ash and cinders. It ruptured the sand underneath it and caused a shockwave. The force sent me across the arena and into the steel walls. My face was coated in ash, and my ribs were aching. Then, the eyes stared into mine, and it breathed fire on my covered face. The medics rushed in, and then the world went black.
