Suggestions Importance
You look through all these suggestions pages and you look at all the suggestions here. Some of them good, sone of them bad, some just plain stupid. But one thing the more recent suggestions seem to lack is any feedback from staff.

Many people are currently complaining of a dying server or a reduced population. I have personally seen the death of many servers, a few even a group effort of friends and I. But this server is not dying. People who think that don't realize that servers will ebb and flow over time as life yanks everyone away.

However, what IS true is that the server seems a bit weak now, or at least from my standpoint. I'm not trying to flame on anyone, nor will I take this time to insult people. But what seems to be happening is a lack of a unified and directed staff to lead the collective server. And while a change like that can't happen over night, one that CAN is feedback on suggestions.

People will always like recognition, so if you praise someone for a good idea, they act in a more positive fashion. If they have a bad idea, if they are politely told why it wouldn't work, one will eventually resign themselves to the fact that they were wrong and move on. But if neither happen, people are just left confused and unsatisfied.

If a staff member would add to suggestions a general consensus of at least a few other staff members to the suggestion threads, a whole lot more can be accomplished. People might actually feel like giving well thought out suggestions that could make the server much better more often simply because their original, simple suggestion met some feedback.

Not everyone thinks the same way, and staff could easily find a gem in the rough if they simply put visible effort into looking.

And for those who think my 4AM ramblings are a bit incoherent:
TLGrinR Feedback on suggestions by the staff might make a difference.

I apologize for any confusing bits. I'll proofread it tommorrow after I sleep.

On topic, Spam doesn't have any luck in forcing us to do anything, and although we don't always leave much feedback, we always look over any suggestion posted within these forums. I'll try to improve myself and try to reply to all of them, matching the standards above.

RE: Suggestions Importance
You say you want feedback and others say they want less moderation. Funny how these mixed messages keep getting spread around. How many staff do we really have? Are you maybe prioritizing some of these staff over one another? Maybe even among the staff this happens, this "your say is worth more than his" type thing? Are you asking the admins to reply, or maybe on of the five or six game mods? Or maybe main, our only forum mod. Is the say of a wikimod as good to you as one of the others?

In short, I don't think you should put so much importance on a staff reply to a suggestion. If it gets enough user response I guarantee you at least some mod is going to see it.

RE: Suggestions Importance
What people don't realize is that less moderation is the exact opposite of what's needed. The staff is pushing for a certain direction, and the less staff they have the less they can achieve their goal. But that's neither here nor there.

What is important is that mods can't be seen always as dictators who enforce the rules to a T and if no one likes it tough shit. Staff is supposed to be friendly and open when wanted and strict when needed. If one doesn't find a good mix of that, then a staff member either seems lax on their job or akin to a dictator. And with the recent events with modcalls being thrown about often, having a friendly, open image helps balance put the issues.

I don't demand that anyone does anything for me. That's not what suggestions are about. What I propose is almost like an improvement in PR for the server.

Also I have never once prioritized a staff member. If you do recall I mentioned that the staff response should be one achieved of a cobsensus. Trying to put one person's ranking over another simply because one does the wiki while the other does the forums is completely asinine. Everyone has an important part in keeping the server running.

RE: Suggestions Importance
I think what is needed is moderation more than punishment. Mediate and solve rather than simply blame and banish.

RE: Suggestions Importance
Trust me, the suggestions are read by most staff members, and, if a staff member likes the idea, they'll further push it. But, community support is huge in that the mods see this bigger threads and take action quicker
