Computer underperforming
Hey, guys. I have the following rig...
-2X GTX 560ti's, SLI enabled
-AMD Phenom II X6 Black Edition Processor @ 3.63gHZ
-16 gigs of RAM (4X4)
-Crosshair V Motherboard
... and yet I run Guild Wars 2 on the highest settings at 25fps, Skyrim at 25-40, and Sleeping Dogs at 30. In short, there's something wrong. I have already diagnosed the issue by swapping out my graphics cards and testing them individually: SLI is working on my computer, but it is not providing nearly as much of a boost as it should. Has anyone had a similar problem with their setup, and if so, do you know of a solution?
Love,
Gecko

RE: Computer underperforming
Yea, I don't know. Something is definitely broken in your computer. Back when I had my single GTX 560 TI, it was better performing than this. Your 2 GTX 560 TI's should be as good, or even better performing than my GTX 680. There is definitely no bottlenecking with those specs, and I doubt the graphics cards are both broken. You should double check that your processor is operating at max performance. If that isn't it, then you motherboard is at fault. You may need to replace it and that should fix the problem.

RE: Computer underperforming
CPU might be a bottleneck. Also, make sure graphics cards drivers are up to date.

RE: Computer underperforming
Sounds like either driver issues or broken hardware to me. You should fun a benchmarking test for both video card and cpu and see if it is actually underperforming or if it is just these games derping about.
Also check that your Motherboard BIOS is up to date. And last case scenario is just reinstall the entire system to make sure that all drivers are properly wiped.
Edit: Might also be worth trying the Beta drivers.

RE: Computer underperforming
Also Gecko, what PCI-e slots are you using on your motherboard?

RE: Computer underperforming
I'm using the first and the third slots.
I need to compare my 3dmark Vantage results with the average results, so I'll get back to you guys on what that turns up.

RE: Computer underperforming
What kind of power supply does it have? if it's to low it might not be powering both cards

900w. Trust me, that's not the problem.

RE: Computer underperforming
You're using the third slot, which is a PCI-e x4 slot, which I believe is one of the slots which does not support SLI, to use SLI you need to use the x16 slot and the x8 slot (these are the first two)

It has 4 slots: the first three are x16, and the last is x4, so I doubt that's the problem. Also, the problem is most likely much greater than a simple fix. His 2 GTX 560ti's perform worse than my single GTX 560ti did, I can almost guaranty that something is either broken or seriously wrong with his computer. However, I really have no clue why it would be under-performing like this. Does your computer crash often or come up with any other errors or problems than just under-performing?
EDIT: Man, that's a nice motherboard, I want an Intel version of that!
EDIT2: Hm... Try updating your bios, there might be a weird glitch where the PCI-e slots are under-performing. I've never heard of it before, but it might be possible that all the PCI-e slots are all seen as x4 to the computer because of a glitch in the bios and the bandwidth is limited by that.
