Text Fighting: For Dummies
Simple. Text what you would do.

Let's Practice:

You are walking through the entryway to a castle, hoping to be undetected, as you are an enemy. Suddenly, the guard spots you and realizes your true intentions.

Guard (hereafter, G): "You there, stop!"
Enemy (hereafter, E): "What? But..."
G: "No buts! Get over here."
E: *Pulls out a set of daggers from within the folds of his clothes*
G: "He's armed!" *Pulls out sword*
E: *Flings one of the daggers towards the guard's face*
G: *Doges the dagger, attempting to re-balance himself*
E: *Uses the temporary destraction to ram the other dagger into the guard's skin, in between the armor*
G: "But... I dodged..." *Falls faint to the ground*

Granted, this is a horrible, HORRIBLE example of it. If you'd like some more examples, just give them to me. I'd feel free to do a mock-battle on the forums, or on Skype if you'd like.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. We should play out a text fight on Skype and then post it here to give a detailed example.

RE: Text Fighting: For Dummies
I was bored so I wrote something. Ehem...
To set the scene...

Two kingdoms were long in war, and today it was supposed to change. Or so they thought.
The two kings followed by a two men from the royal guards, meet to finally make a treaty and started discussing.
But a hate driven cult had another plan. They sent one of the best to ensure the war lasted forever.

Assassin : *Jumps out of a hole in the sealing, trying to stab King (A).*
King (A) : *Falls down on the ground with a dagger stuck in his upper body.*
Guard (A) : *Takes out his sword his sword furiously charging at the assassin.*
Guard (A) : "Assassin! It was a trap!"
Assassin : *Dodges to the left and prepares himself for the next attack.*

Guard (B) : *Grabs King (B) and continues watching."
King (B) : *Watches the bloodbath paralyzed, not sure what to do.*

Guard (A) : *Swings his blade another time hitting the assassin.*
Assassin : *Raises up his arm, deflecting the blow with his metal gauntlet.*
Assassin : *Grabs his arm twisting it.*
Guard (A) : *Loses grip of the sword.*
Assassin : *Takes the sword , cuts his throat, turning around and leaving him to bleed out.*

King (A) : *Crawls slowly to the door leaving a trail of blood behind him.*

Assassin : *Finishes King (A) in a quick but painful strike.*

King (B) : "What is this madness?!? Let me go guard or you will never see the sunlight again!"
Guard (B) : "This it all part of a bigger plan. You would not understand."
King (B) : "YOU WILL ALL PAY FOR THIS DAY!"

Assassin : *Takes out the already bloody sword, looks at it for a moment and kills King (B).*

Assassin : *Looks at Guard(B)*
Assassin : "You made the trap. You came. You killed King(B). I killed Guard(A) and King(A) for revange... And the assassin."

Guard (B) : "I understand brother."
Guard (B) : *Kneels down taking his helm off.*
Guard (B) : "The whole world shall fall into war."

Assassin : *Swings his sword cutting Guard (B's) head off.

Assassin : *Puts on Guard (B's) uniform and starts running to report what happend.*

Way to powergame to be of any use but, meh.

Unreal's post is much better than my own. Nice job!

A conflict doesn't have to end in death.

A conflict doesn't have to end in death.

And, a text-based conflict rarely does end in death

Am I still the only one who is willing to role-play a prisoner or slave?
