Heart  The Kiwike Archives

I have been scouring through old hard drives looking for old Kiwike data. This great quest lasted for days, but now the dust is settling.

There are both good and bad news. The good news is that we have backups of a lot of old worlds. I currently count 8 separate Kiwike worlds, ranging from 2010 to 2015.

The bad news? Well, our most popular worlds don't have very good backups. The latest Kiwike 2.0 backup I am able to locate is dated July 2011. For the record, Kiwike 2.0 spanned May 2011 - January 2012. That means a lot of 2.0 history is gone. However, the big cities can all essentially be located in the May backup. The Grand, not so much.

Even worse, the only copy I have of Kiwike: Revamped is apparently badly corrupted. I'm only able to recover ~half of the world. If your memories are intact, you're in luck.

I will make separate posts for each world backup in this thread, with a brief description and a download link.

Feel free to share anything fun or interesting you might find in the backups in this thread.

Kiwike 2015 edition

This world was online briefly in the summer of 2015. The backup is fully functional, and the latest version of the world.

Runner up

New Kiwike July 2013 - December 2013

This is the last real dedicated world we had. A popular vote in July 2013 meant we reset the server. I honestly can't recall more history than that. If anyone has a better memory than I do, please help out. The backup is fully functional, and the latest version of the world.

I found the matching database to this world. Here is a list of the registered residents, towns and spawn coords

RE: The Kiwike Archives
Next up is the first world of "New Kiwike".

New Kiwike March 2013 - July 2013

This world started out extremely small scale as a reboot of Kiwike, following a downtime of 3 months since appx New Years 2012. I also found the database records with town names and memberships, to help anyone shake their memory. The backup is fully functional, and the latest version of the world.

RE: The Kiwike Archives
Kiwike October 2012 - December 2012

Activity on Kiwike: Revamped was getting real bad and nothing was apparently fixing it, so we released a new server with a lot of the fluff stripped down. The plan was to run this server as a basic PvE/PvP server and also have a separate server for roleplayers. Creatively, we named this server "Kiwike".

Anyway, as was the case with all servers apparently, people got bored after 3 months or so and we decided to shut it down. The closure of this server ended our 24/7 server uptime that we had since November 2010.

RE: The Kiwike Archives
So here we are. Our very ambitious edition, Kiwike: Revamped.

Kiwike: Revamped April 2012 - October 2012

This server was planned thoroughly for months. Like, we actually had (and still have) a 27 page document with notes that we used during the planning phase. And then the world was supposed to have three ages. Unfortunately we never got to the third age.

This backup is pretty sad, since the Revamped archive was corrupted at some point. The chunks of world that are visible on the map below are fully functional, everything else will be regenerated when you launch the world. The spawn point, at The Inn, is gone for example, while the nearby shipyard still exists.

Please note, since this save is corrupt, I upload only the available region files. This means you will have to create a world and then overwrite the region files with these in able to access them. (in the region folder)

Kiwike 2.0 April 2011 - January 2012

Now we're getting to the good stuff. In the very early days of Kiwike, we had a dream of creating this amazing server with a proper spawn point, towns and nations and other cool plugins. Yeah, that was kind of special back then.

However, server plugins were barely a thing, so we had to wait 3 months or so for the technicalities to be there. And then in April 2011, we launched 2.0. This is by far the longest lasting world we've had, and probably also the most popular server we ever had.

UNFORTUNATELY, I can't find a backup from 2.0 that's newer than July 2011. That means the last 5-6 months of the server are likely gone forever. Except in our hearts... of course.

However, this backup has a load of amazing things to explore, like the Mavenholm spawn, the great cities of Cornerstone and Bludwick, the vast Helvanthar subway network etc.
