[Contest] Storyline
I've only been rping for about a year...
None of the rp servers for any games I played had a storyline, it was like a create-your-own adventure type thing.
We are trying to do some serious RP it seems, a good setup and the like. Not a we RP as in hey come help me mine, and we build a town and then sell stuff?
But not so limited as to where you pick a job.
We want it to be like your living in a story but your not written to do one sole thing in the server.
I'm looking for the best I mean the best lore for this server as possible.
I want anyone and everyone to try I mean atleast try.
It's a contest the prize is a few days premium ;] (Aslong as yotta approves) if not then 1000 forum kiwi and 1000 in game kiwi + 50 rep.

Re: [Contest] Storyline
Great idea. I'm not all that great at story-writing but I may give this a try. Or help someone else flesh out their ideas.
I think what we need is a central story. A "Creation Myth" as it were. Once we have that, then the leaders (or one of their citizens) can make stories for their own cities to tie into this. Maybe even make it a requirement for starting a city.
It doesn't have to be anything too involved. A few short paragraphs explaining how they came to be and why they decided to carve out a land of their own. Maybe even their broad future goals.
This would give current players a sense of direction. Also, new players can read these and get a feel for each nation and city.

Re: [Contest] Storyline
That's what I was thinking exactly!
We are adding quests and this could tie in to the lore.
I'm looking for a little more than just a creation story. I want suspense and epicness not a mimic of the bible.

Re: [Contest] Storyline
Ever read The Silmarillion? It's essentially the Bible of Middle Earth. It is dry at times, but at others it describes absolutely epic events. Like how the elves were created, the rise of the forces of evil, the birth of the dwarves. Very cool stuff.
That's kind of what I was thinking of, minus the dry.

Re: [Contest] Storyline
Well, I believe I've mentioned it before but how I already see it is this: The year is 1506, England (Or in this case Kiwitown and Lepritown) has grown and become much more powerful. A new company is born who then get's a charter from the king allowing them to go explore the new land. And so the adventurers head out. It took many days and nights to reach their destination but they finally reached it, The New World.
If you can't tell already, this is the story of the English colonization of the Americas. I've mentioned it quite a few times before in the case of my town, Droidopolis. As you also might know, these new settlements in the new town/nation get heavy taxes from the British. This and a bunch of other things add up to the big event, The American Revolution. Of course before any rebellion, the town must grow into perhaps a few large towns. The motherland would also need to grow.
If that doesn't float your boat, then the colonization is another great story.
Again, if you don't like that, the Russian revolution is pretty awesome as well.
Of course if we take them in game, we wouldn't have to follow the history books word by word on how it played out, just the basics. Not sure if it's obvious but I really enjoy learning about history and I think this would be a genuinely fun server if we did indeed make a story to it.

Re: [Contest] Storyline
Why is it useless?
I mean honestly some players get a kick out of it
We are adding a whole new quest system, I mean probably upwards of 100+ quests. We need a story to be based off this.
The new lore may also in-tale a faction system, there will be a few factions during the begging that you may align yourself with.
Such as:
Bandits (Rob, steal, murder, it's all part of life as a bandit)
Crusader (The heart of war, knights in shining iron armor armored with diamond swords... They keep peace and adjust wrong doers)
Wanderer (They align to no one, or decide to make they're own kingdom)
Traveler (Set up shop! Make big $$$ That's your destiny)
Just examples and each of these will have special abilities only for the alignment.*
*(Could just be a bunch of bullshit)*

Yeah, that's sounds ok. But i don't think u have to have a storyline for this. I mean, if u just forbid some things like minecarts already makes it more rp, and kings and soldiers and knights will come, they'll create themselves. U don't need a storyline for that.
