RE: Keep war?
Wait, i just was thinking about it but when you have a fight with robertF's system then it's just who has the most guys? And the walls and traps make war fun! Sad

Like to join a cool city who is soon growing out to the second biggest city of Helvantar? And has order and rules?

RE: Keep war?
We're talking war as in: http://sites.google.com/site/townymod/help/war

It's towny's way of war, not what Robert or Kubrick is necessarily proposing. For those ideas, we'd most likely have option two.

I feel some votes would've changed had the voter known that.

RE: Keep war?
I voted for yes, before I read the *. War should be a part of it, but not the current system so switch one vote the option 2.

RE: Keep war?
Keep war, but have each nation make a national keep which can be attacked. This will allow cities to be immune to war (via scripting or a server enforced rule) while still maintaining the PvP and "assault the castle" mentality that the war is suppose to instill. It would take a bit of work, but I feel it would be worth it. As incentive, the winning nation can be rewarded with loot from the losing faction. This can be done in several ways:

Chests inside the keep which the city (or an admin) places valuables in, each city having equal amounts in each chest.

A flat reward given to the winning city.

As it stands now? No, get rid of war. Too much destruction inside of cities. Were people somewhat responsible it wouldn't be a problem.

RE: Keep war?
I think we should keep war, but not let it be constant. Like maybe 1 warday per month... Anyways good luck with the issue. Awesome smiley

RE: Keep war?
I agree with kub on this. The disputed battlefield idea is much better then the "lets sneak in while everyones gone and wreck their city" idea most people seem to get. Although personally I'm more pacifist and like the building side of the rp over the war, I'm sure many enjoy it and this seems like the easiest method while keeping most people happy.

RE: Keep war?
The way I see it, you have the option to be neutral, so if war isn't your thing, you can be in a neutral nation and keep your buildings.

I do kinda think it's lame that someone can wreck your city with a pick axe. I wonder if it's possible to make it so blocks in town can't be removed with tools by outsiders, but may be destroyed with TNT, and perhaps allow blocks to be placed by outsiders, such as ladders to climb over city walls.

I think it would be nice if there was some prize worth fighting for. I looked at the Towny war stuff a little and saw something about winning and losing town blocks, but I feel like losing a town block is pretty harsh. Could it be possible that the attacking parties can earn town blocks, but the defending nations lose something less precious, like 20 g or something?

I suspect houses will get damaged, but I doubt they'd get destroyed in this fashion, especially if destroying things isn't the main goal. Just a thought, but the curiosity of the war dynamic is what attracted me to this server.

RE: Keep war?
Well, by the tendency of people in general, things like this can happen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8_FlXPYKZo

Mind you, this wasn't during official towny wartime.
