What are you guys talking about? The seed is the unique number that is used to generate the map. Maps aren't random since computers can't create random numbers. Seeds used to be the current time in milliseconds since 1970 but Notch added a feature so you can specify the seed yourself.

We understand that. If this was relating to my previous comment yotta, that was a relation to the jack and the beanstalk idea. But if it's the actual world generation thing, wtf are you going on about? I just left the thing blank and it pooped out a floating island.

Doggy, does your floating island have a house with a chest in it? If so, I'm afraid your Minecraft client has contracted Terraria (buh-dum CHH).
