I know a lot of atheists who just aren't interested in religion at all.

Sadly people seem to use tips of the bell curve to represent the rest it. I.e. fire and brimstone preachers for Christianity and subterranean neck-beards for atheists.

There was a time when I called myself a secular humanist to avoid being associated with the likes of Richard Dawkins. I had to stop because I got sick of explaining was a secular humanist was to people. And if you really want to get technical about it and stand from a point of only empiricism, there is no proof either way, and the only real stance a rational person could have is that of agnosticism.

Lately I've been saying "agnostic in theory, atheist in practice".
