RE: Question :
I have a feeling that this could pose a very large problem. A few examples:

Who defines what is a good reason? If it is the mods, is that not imposing a set type of stereotypical roleplay on the majority, thereby restricting certain types of roleplay? If it is the populace, is that not posing the problem of having a minority group having their experience ruined to an extent? Isn't even RP-killing ruining someone's experience to an extent? What if their character truly is having a bad day, or just woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or maybe even stubbed their toe and caused them to go into a bad mood and be a douche?

Let's take a quick look at the split up and defined rule of #1:

Quote:1) Be Mature, a.k.a. “Don’t be a Douchebag”

1.1) Moderators Are Always Right

Moderators are entrusted with the full authority to make decisions based on game rules.
This means that when a mod makes a ruling, do not argue with them in places like the OOC chat or a forum thread!

If you believe the ruling to be unfair, you may file an appeal on the forums. The issue will be discussed among the staff and community. Do not spam the forums, as that will lower your chances of getting your voice heard and your thread will be locked.

1.2) Respect Your Fellow Players

If you treat others the way you like to be treated, people will generally return the favor. Respect others and they will respect you. People are here to have fun, not be treated like they’re unwanted.

A moderator might decide that you are not respecting other players and are being rude out of proportions. This might be in character or out of character. Attacking someone personally and out of character is not recommended.

If a moderator decides that the behavior demonstrated at any given moment on the server exceeds the given boundaries, you might face a punishment accordingly; this can be from a simple kick to a temp-ban. Repeatedly insulting or disrespecting people can get you permanently banned.

If you find that someone is being rude to you personally and they don’t have a valid reason roleplay wise, we recommend that you take screenshots and post them along with an appropriate description in the ban section of the forum.

1.3) No Flaming

The OOC chat and forums are meant to be a place for players to communicate with one another in a friendly and fun way so as to get as much out of the experience of Kiwike as they can.
This also means that we do not want people to flame other players in the OOC chat or the forums.

A “flame” is a comment intended to be an out-of-character (OOC) insult with the intention of aggravating the other person. If you want to argue with someone about a personal matter, use the /tell command or forum PMs! We do not necessarily share your personal views towards other members as every member of the staff treats everyone the same.

1.4) Swearing Is Allowed In Character, But..

We are a diverse community of different ages and sensitivities. While the occasional curse is accepted in both local and OOC channels, blatantly offensive language, patterns of OOC abuse, or offensive speech may result in a warning, a kick, or even a ban.

1.5) No Whining

No one likes a whiner. Complaining without a just cause serves no purpose and distracts everyone from having fun. Don’t do it.

Begging staff members for free items along with asking to be teleported also falls under this sub-section. Admins/Mods are busy maintaining the server and have no time to listen to whining and those looking for handouts.
Why, oh why, have these rules not been acted on as much as they could be acted on? It is obviously apparent that numerous members of the community - even me at times - have been outright douches according to, at the very least, the category of respect. Why aren't we seeing me, Crash, Pwol, NLewis, Gira, Ian, or whoever the hell else decides to post disrespectful comments get warnings, or even bans? Is the administration afraid that the public will lash out accordingly? Or is it too much trouble? (And, for the record, I'm not targeting the administration - they do an excellent job. Consider this a 'devil's advocate' post, in a matter of speaking) Does the administration instead focus bans on in-game property damage, or out-of character killing? And, for the love of God, why aren't we seeing people who don't fall under any of the subcatagories, yet are still obvious douchebags (OoC, of course), warned or banned?!?

"One can concentrate so closely on the words of a sentence that one thereby misses the meaning. As can happen in any area of life. You must never lose focus on the larger landscape."
