Hello fellow Kiwikians,
As you should know, we've run into a rough patch in terms of server activity, and many of our (still) beloved avid RPers left for various reasons. Needless to say, something had to be done, and it didn't happen soon enough. You should also know that we recently held a staff meeting in which everyone else had the chance to take part in discussion and give their opinion. The discussion ended four hours after it began and what we discussed, among other things, can be found
here.
We discussed many things, but the main and overarching problems were current inactivity, and the ever so ominous "What do we do with the server now?" Some suggested that we do what we do best, which seems to be a Light-RP and PvP style of server, where others felt just as strongly about creating a separate and smaller server for Hardcore-RPers only. Below I will outline a few of the larger choices we as a community had come up with, and I'd honestly like to know how each and everyone of you feel Kiwike should continue.
Option #1 - Gecko's Plan
Gecko's plan which had been discussed in a Skype chat not 24 hours ago by Gecko, Cell, Cerce, and myself, included two separate servers from what we have now. Instead of soley Revamped as the RP server, we'd bring a new one with new lore, a new map, new everything, really. This server would have a more intricate application process and we wouldn't expect to have the largest of player bases here. There would be around three moderators dedicated to this separate server, and we'd ultimately be relying on new RPers to come, over the ones that have just recently left us.
tl;dr: Revamped stays pretty much the same but we lighten up on the RP rules to attract a larger playerbase. Turn it more into an RPG server.
A few selected dedicated RPers start working on a whole new separate server for the extreme RP (No xp farms, pvp, very restricted building, no stealing).
Option #2 - Crash's Plan
Crash's suggestion was similar to Gecko's in that the Hardcore RPers and ok-ish RPers would be relatively separate. Crash, however, differentiated in that a new map that would become the main map of Kiwike would be split by a literal wall (think Game of Thrones). On one side, PvP is turned off, Text-Fighting is expected, and overall there is a high expectation for the RP. The other side, as I understood, was for those who preferred what Revamped currently is. One would be able to build mob grinders and whatnot.
tl;dr: Delete the entire revamped world and start from scratch. Make a wall in the new world that divides hardcore RPers and casual RPers. The hardcore side of the wall would have more restricted RP rules and no pvp. The other side would be pretty much Revamped in it's current state.
Option #3 -Cerce/CapBubba's Suggestion
Cap and Cerce were both on the same page with one thing. They both believed that Kiwike was better at appealing to the Light-RP and PvP crowds rather than the hardcore RPers. They ultimately say that rather than trying to appease the RPers, who are willing to relocate easily, we should go ahead and lax such rules related to RP, and go somewhere between 2.0 and Revamped.
tl;dr: Gecko's suggestion, but don't put the effort into creating a new server. It's not worth it. Just get rid of the RP aspect as a whole and stick with Revamped.
Option #4 - End of the World
It wasn't heavily discussed, but we all must have been thinking it. If you choose this option you're either planning to leave Kiwike regardless or have lost interest in Minecraft as a whole. Kiwike isn't low on money so we're not necessarily in the position where we can't afford to support our playerbase - which is reassuring.
tl;dr: Shut down the server, play DayZ instead.
If anyone thinks I left anything out from the options listed or got anything wrong from your suggestion, please feel free to point it out. We're looking to get into the most popular option (most likely), perhaps after further discussion. We don't want to have everyone wait another whole week just to see action from the staff
