RE: Suggestions from a Dying Breed of Roleplayer
wait cerce I think ur getting a bit ahead of urself there's the ADVENTURE UPDATE! now I'm hoping that with that update it will encourage role playing cause the combat system will drastically change and with that it means, it will take skill to kill an opponent and that means you can actually train and practice fighting so maybe u could join thieves guilds or fighting guilds or protecting guilds like the watchers. DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE.
Or you could be a SKY PIRATE!

RE: Suggestions from a Dying Breed of Roleplayer
I'll be completley honest when I say that the reason I wanted to join the server was because of Roleplaying. And this server has good roleplay, just not a lot of it. I really like all of these suggestions Cerce. I think if we can get more of a roleplay base, rather then just a survival/PvP base, then the server will start seeing a lot more people.

Also there will be adding more farming options so that's good for merchants and citizens.

I remember when there was no PvP in towns, I don't care if u think it is a bad idea, if it was a bad idea then why were there more active players when that was around.

Not on minecraft though, but it's basicly the same principle. And roleplaying is what this server lacks. What it don't lacks, to me it seems is people who do things that appear right to them but not to others which suffer through the others actions. I am just playing along 'til I can find some good roleplaying group here on this server, but so far no evidence of that happening.
And Cerce, I never got a reply to my latest message, and that saddens me. Because I didn't know if it was going to be or if it wouldn't happen. I got back onto the server by the fact of something happening. But I only heard that you left... for good as it seems, at least in-game.
I appologize for not getting back to you, but quite frankly, I didn't leave because I was dissapointed in the lack of roleplay; on the contrary, that was the least of the reasons. My reason for leaving is that I put all this lore and everybody seemed to be rather content with simply building a town, running it for a month, and then leaving. Nobody built anything to last, from what I had seen. Half the towns that looked good were mostly vacant, and the towns that weren't vacant were building something that 'nobody has ever done before'. Then, once that special something was built, they left. Take my castle for example. I had at least 15 people registered to join Cerantiace. But, after construction of the castle was finished and I moved on to more aesthetic building (trees, landscapes, etc) people left.
Oh, and irl crap. That too.

RE: Suggestions from a Dying Breed of Roleplayer
Yes, just yes. I needed a roleplay rant man. I wanted to get more roleplaying lately, but noone seems to actually rp ingame. I would love to start/join a roleplaying nation as Cerantia was supposed to be. If it was still here, I would join it right away. And not the town, but actually really the nation. I wish the Roadbuilders or Cerantia would have lasted as long as Helvanthar. Also, people seem to only roleplay when there is action involved, and I mean fighting or stealing action. I have a roleplaying company, but there is completely no interest, I guess because there is no action? But anyway, I would love this server to death if a good rp Nation popped up. And I still talk about a Nation, because towns may be fun, but in my eyes they have way less influence than big Nations with big armies and all that. So if a rp Nation with influence would enter the server I would join it, and its influence would have A LOT of people joining. Heck, if I had the money and the 15 players, I would have already started this nation. And I find it terrible that Cerantia died because you started building landscapes and people don't like rp landscapes they like castles and action.
Just saying what I wanted to say for a while now.
Also, Pavja leaves, guild collapses. Thats how good rp can be here, but due to the fact that the rest of the guild didn't rp, that happened.

RE: Suggestions from a Dying Breed of Roleplayer
What I think this server would benefit from is a character creation forum.
Because what I think is making most people not want to roleplay is that it's too much work.
But if you already have a template set up for you, you just have to create your character, and anyone roleplaying with you will know who you are and how to make the most of the experience.
It will also hopefully encourage people to create their own characters, and by doing so, try roleplaying with the other members of the server.
However, I find that roleplaying events is what is needed most. Most people are far far away from where all the other people are, and as such would not want to walk 20 minutes, in Minecraft, which is the most tedious thing to do ever, just to roleplay for 20 minutes and then get interrupted because you already wasted all the time you had.
They would also have something to look forward to, something to make their roleplaying addiction bubble up to the surface.
I wish I was an insane space wizard.

It won't Riley, quite frankly you seem to think that RPG's and RP is the same thing...
Roleplaying very rarely is about the action you take in a game, but more about how you take that action. Will you put forth an epic poem of how the rake cut through the flowing wheat. Or will you just mine dat gold, whit mah nuew pikax.

Both but it sure will enhance rp
And I still think we need more people to join our server before we even start RPing

RE: Suggestions from a Dying Breed of Roleplayer
I'd be happy to come back and start, but I dare you to name 15 people that would stay with the nation and help it not in times of need, but in times of abundant blessings. When everything is fine and dandy and nothing is wrong is when things fell apart, as it did in Cerantia. After the Griefer Plague (rp thingy with me and Tristy) ended, everything was fine. After Pavja announced that he was leaving, then everything was even more fine - as I had had a few run-ins with the guild (good rp-ers, surprizingly, once I cought one) and when their leader left, it was a weight off my shoulders. Then, Tristy, being the good-hearted evil guy that he is, donated over 200 gold to Cerantia, so we were set for a long time, to the point where it still 'exists' today on the server, and will continue to exist probobly till the end of the year. So, basically, Cerantia had nothing wrong. And that was everything wrong. There was nothing for people to work against to avoid calamity. That was the problem. People weren't happy with day-to-day roleplay, acting out the characters life.
Edit: Well, turns out there's only 30 gold in the town now... Don't know how that happened.
