RE: Towny Over-Protections
Is it possible to make something like this:
You may buy specific doors from the Mayor or someone in the city with Ingame-Gold that will become intruder-safe for a while.
But after that your house will become vulnerable again unless you renew your secure door.

I think this may add a RP-feeling while you still have to pay for your security (again, RP).
But i got no idea for how long the door shall last and the price but i think this would be a rather expensive feature so there is no-one that can afford a Permanent "SecuriDoor" (u c wat i did thar?) to give the thieves a chance.

What do you think? Is this even possible in a programming point of view? I am no modder so i wouldnt have clue.

RE: Towny Over-Protections
What I would hate to see is a realistic-looking treasure room turned into a labyrinth of pitfalls, TNT pressure-plates, and redstone-tripped traps. I understand the anger against the current town protection, and think that that form of protection is unreasonable in a roleplay server. However, expecting that a mini-olympic game must be accomplished before I can reach my chest for a stack of wood would (hehe, two wood's...) be highly unrealistic. There has got to be some happy medium of 'no stealing whatsoever' and 'create a 20-block-long treasure room with traps'. I think that we should go with the idea of a few protected chests in banks, as this is the only option I can see that could fit said happy medium. I know, I know, MMO's are filled with dungeon-crawlers with booby traps and treasure at the end... But I see no time in history when a regular civilian was required to create an expansive defence system to protect their meagre treasures from vagabonds. (And no, I don't hate thieves - as a matter of fact, before I chose to use 'Cerce' for this roleplay, there was another character, Odin Shadowfoot (yes, very poor last name), who I was going to use for a thief. I have high respect for thieve-related roleplay, if done right, for there are so many fakers of said roleplay who choose to kill everyone, raise a house, and exploit the system to get loot fast in the name of 'roleplay')

Also... SecuriDoor? No offence, but I don't see how that is realistic from a roleplay point-of-view (unless you consider Runescape the best roleplaying game to date... In which case, have at it).

Cerce, this would not be the case. You would use simple techniques to hide less valuable items (underneath a floorboard, perhaps), and use sophisticated traps to guard the valuables (a combination lock, or pressure pad path).

I too find this very troubling. At the same time though, i just feel like newcomers would be more tempted to grief if they figured out they could mess with everything.
Hopefully they won't, but i think that maybe we could toggle "building" blocks to be unable to be broken down completely?
I think we should find a restriction that works for decent protection but at the same time, it allows someone susceptible to an attack.

RE: Towny Over-Protections
When did "roleplay" have to include chest stealing?

I hear a lot of ppl saying "ohh its allowed cos its a RP server" but u can RP and raid without stealing stuff from each other.

I vote for locked chests since the current system of shop protection and not chest protection can be exploited and xrayers can find hidden chests even if u try to hide them.
