RE: What is Kiwike missing in your opinion!
OK, I want to know one thing... is war supposed to be fun? I was under the impression that you wanted to avoid war. Once I know if war is supposed to be sought after, I'll know what to be expecting. I really don't want some game within a game. I don't want some prize to be offered to the winning nation. War should have it's own benefits (aka taking over a town, getting receources, etc). I really, really don't want some pre-made battlefield. Otherwise, why exactly are there walls and castles in so many towns? To keep people in? No; they are to ward off creatures and would-be offenders... such as an opposing armies. I would hate to see Kiwike turn war into some over-glorified slugfest. People die in war. Buildings get completely decimated. Entire villages are burned completely to the ground. Nations get whiped out. Please, Yotta and friends, don't butter up war into some happy-go-lucky arena slugfest where the guy who kills the most wins... because oftentimes, those who kill the most still loose. Even 'winning' can still make you loose, in the end...

The thing is, even though it would be awesome with war on the field (read : Art of War in Minecraft stuff) the griefing parts would just be horrible. Seeing towns that's been worked on for weeks be completely demolished in no time. It's a great idea but it just doesn't work. We even had this for the first time in Kiwike and how did it end? No one wanted to fight because they didn't want their stuff griefed.
There has to be a better solution

Sun, That is what we had before hand and it didn't work out. I agree with Cerce to an extent. War in preset fields isn't fun, where as war on the map is fun in general. Griefing is not the solution either. But a good thing to do in a time of war like this, would to do in the middle. Such as with war in the beginning, it starts on weekends and when your town gets taken over its not necessarily gone for. The "New Owners" Of the town now own it for the weekend (Unless the others get it back), But they are not aloud to edit it in any way. The only thing they are able to do is to go through the chest (Remove blocks on top of them), and so on. The town gets returned to its previous owners Monday morning. Some might appose this because of the items getting stolen, but war is not just, get killed, respawn, fight again. It has its consequences. I don't expect what i just said to happen, but something like that would also be in the middle of what Cerce is saying, and what other Kiwikians want.

Well, heres basically what I am looking for...

Ability to launch an attack against an outpost or city...
Ability to take over enemy territory
Have war happen in kiwike, and not in some arena
Wars should be waged for valid reasons
Oh, and I like cells view, only cities should be able to be occupied indefinately (think russia, east berlin)

Yeah, but thats one reason people didn't like it. The face that you can loose it all. That would get rid of small hamlets that have yet to prosper, and such, though. But i still dont like that part.

Hmm for war, could it be possible to have it similar to any sort of Sports game?
Each nation chooses a few battlegrounds, such as a certain chunk area, to be their "home" stadium, or a group of stadiums. Each stadium has some sort of definite limit, such as a fence square, or solid walls, or a cave with walls. It does not need to be exactly symmetrically perfect.

As a result, i think that you could make stadiums in a huge cave system.
Challengers would then formally schedule a wartime against their opponent. The home team then informs the opposing team where the field of battle is located.
I can think of this in a few different ways. Don't hate on this, i thought a lot on this topic.

Quote:Game Wardens- Just like the higher ups and mods, the Game Wardens are the eyes and ears of the whole battlefield. They can't participate, but they regulate rules and violations, and just help overall with the organization.
Quote:Stadiums- The stadiums should be prepared prior to the fight depending on the game type.

Quote:Preparation- To prepare for these, the battle should be declared a few days prior, in real life time, so that the nation/guild/town can prepare. Then, they can do proper preparations, such as stadium decisions, stockpiles, tactics, traps, all that stuff.

Quote:Game types- We could make war more fun, by adding many ways to win a battle, i just thought of a few.

TDM-Team deathmatch, enough said. This is hard to track since the game warden has to log the fighting. I think timed matches would work best. No building allowed. The game will end when the beds are destroyed, or time limit is reached. Buildings must be premade, or not made at all.

Exhaustion- Each team fights over resources. Basically, in the stadium, there will be many EASILY OBTAINABLE chests with resources in them (It depends on where you put them, but make them easy to find). They count as a stockpile for the other team, so they contain swords and other items that allow them to fight. The game ends when they cannot fight because they only have fists, or if their bed(s) are destroyed.

Capture the flag/resource block- Each team identifies a unique block that the team has to get. For example, if Corner and the thieves guild were fighting, then Corner could say "A pink wool block" and the thieves could say "a stick." They will be found in chests, and also, they cannot be overly hidden. Traps are allowed though. The game ends when a contender says something like "I GOT THE FLAG!!!! Laugh" and the game warden checks the opposing chest, and then the home chest.

There should be others, but these are pretty basic Laugh

Quote:Battle rounds- These apply to all of the war "game types" (which will be gotten into later). Shorter rounds give people less territory, while long games are much more rewarding. In the end, it's a gauntlet, if you will...an endurance run.

Short Skirmish: Battles last 1 round. It's a hit or miss opportunity, the opposing team either wins or loses, a 1 round sort of deal.
Exhibition Battle: Battles are 3 rounds long, best 2 out of 3 wins the round. Area taken,

Siege battles; successive: This option is only available if the home team has 3 stadiums. Basically it's a Short Skirmish over multiple battle fields. Each field can have different Game types.

Siege battles of the century: The home team selects 3 stadiums, where they will decide each game type and play on a "best 2 out of 3" idea.
Of course this system is a disadvantage for attackers because they will have less time to set up their stadiums.

I had a bunch of other stuff about the war system but i feel like this would be really really balanced and fun, after all the meticulous planning.

No. I am not going to play a game within a game and loose my land withought ever fighting on it. Reguardless of weather my 'stadium' is my town, or my castle. I will continue to fight a war in the game. I will not ever give up my land, especially when I loose it in a game within a game. I will fight them on the beaches. I will fight them in the streets of my cities. I will always, always rather have my land grieved and be able to fight for it, than have my land intact, but be ruled by someone else because they won something similar to a 'sports game'. Never.
As a matter of fact, how fricken cool would it be to be walking around in my castle, having TNT blasts from cannons going off in every direction, having the walls crumbling around me, and having an epic sword fight with whoever is trying to invade? Very fricken cool. That's how much.

What about a death tax during wartime so people don't just grief respawn and repeat?

RE: What is Kiwike missing in your opinion!
Cerce i see your point of view but look at it in a other way.
People have spend months to build something epic.
Now i come along, i want to war you, i delcair war.

I blow up your walls, leaving them with huge gaping holes.
I then kill you, and struggle on, houses are gone, all with holes, things set on fire.
And when looted.. i disregard it and its left a ruin.

Thats war, but its not fun.
It makes people less encourager to start war because who feels like building up thing time and time again, and if they are unlucky before they are even done again its destroyed.
