I never said a single thing about a problem with the meeting being public, nor with getting the community involved. I applaud both, but the current way it is being handled is hypocritical considering some of the topics. If we're talking about the staff, why should we ask the staff? If we're talking about the server's current state, why would we ask moderators who haven't played in months?
You missed the point of my statement entirely.
I'd love to get the community more incorporated but it's really hard to do so in an organized way. And FWIW, everyone has always had the opportunity to write some in-depth suggestions on how the server should change. I love that kind of stuff. Inception is an awesome movie, too.
Cobb Wrote:An idea. Resilient... highly contagious. Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate. An idea that is fully formed - fully understood - that sticks; right in there somewhere. You don't have to be an admin or moderator to make an impact on the server. People in general just want an excuse for laziness. And so they blame the staff.
Also, give us any question during the meeting and we'll answer it. We don't intend to avoid any discussions. :c

Yeah lets all start a non rp war because we can always make an excuse later.
We should not start a non-RP war. We should conduct server side RP to give reason for the existence of other nations. I'd personally recommend inviting Lewis and Pwol back, giving them back Solitude or building them an epic fortress of evil to operate out of with whoever wishes to play an evil soldier. Give them some RP length to work with, and let them raise hell.
Past the evil faction, there would continue to be the 'good' factions (nations) who may quarrel, ally, or babble amongst themselves all while fighting the evil faction.
I can't guarantee this to work, but it seems like a good way to start. We could advance lore as needed to move plot events along (perhaps the War plug-in would offer the opportunity to actually defeat the evil faction). Afterward, we can build more on the RP.
I agree, let them do what they do best, otherwise this server is going to have nothing else to do. Honestly, they added so much more to the server, that when they were gone, could never be replaced.

RE: Teamspeak Meeting tomorrow
It actually isn't hard to do in an organized way - we have a forum, and we've given our suggestions.
Luckily for Cobb, I have a ton of ideas - ideas that I have shared multiple times even in the past few days alone. That statement doesn't support any argument that would hurt mine, however, as we are already putting forward our ideas. We're running along the same line - you just need to act on it.
Apparently you do need to be a staff member to change the server - nobody makes the calls but the absentee staff. I'm calling for a change - almost 20 other people are calling for a change to some degree.

RE: Teamspeak Meeting tomorrow
Yottabyte, you said you liked suggestions. I feel as though now is a better time than ever to bring this topic up in the Teamspeak chat. I submitted this to Andriod via Pm on January 29th, 2012.
Cell Wrote:Staff
This is probably one of the main things that should be done with the server. The staff has grown to a two sided team, the active, and the inactive. Now, of course, this would leave to wiping out the inactive. But what would stop this from happening again.
Well, as I mentioned earlier, the bursting community that Stug wen't to join. Upon looking around their community, I found the staff title of "Community manager". I am in full belief that this title should be transferred to our server.
What the community manager does is manage other moderators, while still holding up their position of the staff. In this case, on that server, it would be Recruiters, where the manager recruited recruiters, and still recruited players.
What would be the benefit of this? Well, say we had a community manager of the staff, eh? This manager would hold up his position of the staff, wether that be game, forum, or wiki. But keep tabs on the staff members themselves. Now, on most servers, this is the job of an Admin. But seeing as Yottabyte is busy with his coding, and you your behind the scenes, well, everything, there is no room to add a whole new job to your list of things to do.
Now, this community manager, he or she would keep tabs on said staff member. If he or she is offline for a set amount of days, without a legitimate excuse, they could be put on probation. If it happens again, or they still don't get on, and make no contact whatsoever, demotion. Now, this is just a rough outline, and it is not needed to be this strict, but this would further help the server to get rid of those inactive mods, and replace them with much more potential players.
After I went and checked out Stay's server, it was apparent why they were so much more active than us. Many reasons applied, but this was a recent position given to Staypuff himself, where as he was to watch over a certain section of the staff and basically "Moderate" them. This idea was shot down not long after sending it to Android.

So.... why not make a thread in the suggestions forum? You want us to listen to ideas, well they are a whole lot easier to listen to when we can get opinions from more than just one person.
And if anyone still wants to argue that we don't listen to the community's opinion, see these threads:

I sent that as a PM to Android. It covered more than that one subject. I felt much better at the time sending that straight to him, rather than looking like I was taking a potshot at the community.

RE: Teamspeak Meeting tomorrow
I made a thread in june predicting this would happen. I still maintain that some combination of those suggestions will save the server. We need fewer bans, less restrictive RP rules, more of the pre-revamped playerbase and a complete restart if this server is going to last through the end of the year. You all laughed at me / told me off then, but it is still relevant and I hate to say 'told you so' but...
