The Hobbit barely gives the ring Bilbo finds any significance beyond it making him invisible, are you thinking of Book One of the Lord of the Rings?

When I saw the trailer this morning, I think I literally shed a tear. Squiggley knows that I am avidly in love with the LOTR books and movies, and actually have performed some of the Music to friends of mine (including Squiggley i think). This book series is AMAZING! and I;m probably gonna re read all of them in honor of this!

Pro-tip: Read the silmarillion. though it is very much like a history book at the beginning it picks up and becomes very interesting when you get to the first few wars
