Plugin: Professions
I spoke with Yotta about this, and he seems to like the idea. I just want to know what you all think about this. I'm sort of busy, so I'll just post what I sent Yotta.
Quote:You know what would be really, really cool if you have the time? Making a new plugin.
"Professions": Each person can chose (and change) there profession (1 or 2), and each professions gives limits what they can sell to that professions.
If I were a miner, I could only sell ores and minerals.
If I were a lumberjack, I could only sell logs and planks.
If I were an alchemist, I could only sell potions.
Et cetera.
Doing this would make the economy much stronger. A few months ago, I was reading a forum discussion on some Minecraft site about how Minecraft economies are extremely hard to manage, since everyone can be completely self sufficient. Buying and selling things just doesn't have a purpose, because you already have it available (no matter where you live!)
On that point, another option to strengthen the economy would be to somehow limit what resources you have available based on your biome. This would be an awesome addition to Territories, but I have no clue how you would go about doing it.

RE: Plugin: Professions
I prefer a dynamic economy that revolves around supply and demand, but maybe a profession system that gives advantages in harvesting the resources is a good one though .

RE: Plugin: Professions
Hmm... I'm just picturing everyone choosing one profession, leaving nobody to buy everything else from. Also, the way it was on 2.0, only a few people actually sold a lot of goods, and everyone would travel to buy from them. In the long run, most people would rather mine for gold than sell for it.
Love,
Gecko

The Revamped currency is gold nuggets and not gold bars now. I have a strong feeling there will be more trading.

That has nothing to do with it. There will just be inflation x9.

It does, think of it this way:
Kiwike 2.0: Pounds without pennies
Kiwike: Revamped: Pounds and pennies

RE: Plugin: Professions
This would definitely increase trade but more importantly it would allow for specialization of labour and if you know your history (well this isn't exactly what happened but it seemed to fit) this allows civilizations to thrive.

RE: Plugin: Professions
I don't like the idea of professions as I don't want to rp with a dedicated profession. Some people have an rp based more on survival rather than economy, and have you ever seen a survivalist go to the nearest town to buy a load of stone because he happens to be a lumberjack?

RE: Plugin: Professions
Maybe not professions but 'talents'. So you can choose to be talented in mining or woodcutting.
