What is your taking on griefing?

Basically most people would classify griefing as you destroying something you didn't build. But you could also do stuff like flooding or something. As a fellow viking I'm sure the nation is going to come up with some pretty creative ways to mess with people.

Well i classify it as destroying something that is not yours, BUT for no gain.

Say someone has a floor made of solid gold destryoing it to take it is okay by my standards

Grieving is as defined above, destroying something that was made by another player.
You MAY Tear up someones block if you are (For instance Grabbing someones Diamond/Gold/Iron block to use it).
You MAY Tear a 2x2 Hole in someones wall to get in.
You MAY Tear down someones house if it is, so to say, a threat, or ruining your game-play.(A Mod will need to clarify this with more detail.)
You MAY Remove blocks to find someones hidden chest as long as you replace it.
NO Fire whatsoever.
NO Tearing down a random house.
NO Grieving just for fun.

Indeed, griefing is ok as long it is making an opening in a wall and stuff like that. But totally destroy cities for fun is just idiotic!

What about say if you are at war with a country. If you take over a town, but all the residents leave to their own territory and you don't have anyone in your country wanting to live there, do you have the ability to sack the place?

I think it would be cool to see a "Total War" agreement made between two cities. During a few hours on a certain day, 2 waring cities declare total war, including potentially demolishing the opposing city to the point where they surrender.

Well, don't the city blocks have hp during war time? Doesn't that sort of suggest that during war time you ~should~ be destroying the other city? Have I completely misinterpreted that?
