Does anyone know a specific location where you can find pumpkins?

You can hate me for this but, I know what metagaming is in other games. And I think I might vaguely know what it is in minecraft. But since I am like 98% sure I don't know what it means in minecraft would you please clarify it for me.

RE: Pumpkins
Well, you might find some in the wilderness around snow, plains, and mountain biomes. You can, of course, always buy pumpkins from shops.

Metagaming is using outside information (information in OOC on the server, or any other information except that in the RP/Lore section of the forums that isn't found out by conversations in local chat on the server) to influence you're character's actions and decisions. Don't do it.

So if a person who's new to minecraft asks how to make a bed we can't tell him on the forums or in OOC because that would be meta, as it influences his character?..

I must admit that not telling people how the game works and how to obtain basic items is a bit like not letting a player know of a beneficial rule in a p&p roleplay. So with the risk of getting a warning/temporary ban for metaing I'm going to give a link to the "rulebook" of minecraft: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/

bvcxzmn, you just search for pumpkins or any other minecraft related term and you should find your answer :)

Asking where pumpkins grow isn't really metagaming in my eyes. Except when someone answers with "Yeah I have a pumpkin field at coordinates x,y. Feel free to take any as long as you leave the stems".

As far as the metagaming goes, it's only really metagaming when your actions and/or decisions affect other players. For example: a player asks how to make a bed in ooc, this is not metagaming as making a bed won't affect anyone else other than that player in an rp way. Asking for town coordinates in ooc, however, is metagaming because you can now affect other players in an rp way, by either going to and/or raiding said town, ...

And don't be discouraged to ask stuff in ooc, if it's metagaming it will be said so and that's it. you won't et warnings and/or bans because you are asking stuff that you don't know (though there might be some exceptions if overdone), It's the people who answer the questions (with for example town coordinates) who get the warnings most of the time.

That's a much clearer way of putting it, listen to him ^.
