RE: The Afterthought
Honestly i like the the way it is now. non of this wall bullshit, taking away pvp and theft would be a real blow to my opinion of the server, making the server into happy no stealing or killing peace hardcore peace land vs. the evil pvp arena on the other side its just seems like a bad idea. The fun of kiwike is that it is so limitless the people control how they are perceived what they do and how they choose to react.
I want to play kiwike, not some nerfed chatroom of a game

RE: The Afterthought
Seth, option 2 is by far the best. Go read all the points we have made on it, it is not a bad idea.

RE: The Afterthought
While I formerly thought it was unnecessary to include argumentative points in the description of my idea, I figure they must be stated.
A opposed to gecko's option (I hope this doesn't tear us apart and we can move on regardless of the final decision <3), the map would be all encompassing - and would not split up the player base. The idea of splitting the community into an elite RP-based community, and a PvP-based community is not conductive to keeping Kiwike a united (as much as before at least) server.
The server would require RP as it always has, yet still offering a unique perspective and opportunities. Kiwike has always been a themed (as far as I'm concerned) server with some aspect of RP to it, regardless of the failure or ignorance to do so by many past parties. Kiwike has always been a unique RP server - and the reason for most of us to be here is because we do want to take part in RP.
This idea would not eliminate building capabilities, but instead limit people from being able to build hideous crap that litters all servers.
This idea would not eliminate PvP, but instead give resolution to those who aren't ready to give up that option of 'solving' RP disputes.
Pre-decided lore, setting (in some cases), and background would remove the conflicts of having to build societies from the ground up, while still giving the player a nice place to live.
This idea would still give the same option of hardcore RP, for those who are willing to take move forward and attempt text-based fighting (if this option is selected I would hope members of our community who advocate this would be able to educate us on proper procedure for such).
A solely PvP based, free reign world has never been the vision of Kiwike (as far as I am informed). As much as people fondly remember 2.0, it was for the most part considered a failed server and was largely low in activity for the second half of it's existence.
This option would be indefinitely cheaper as only one map would be hosted, instead of two. However, it would take a substantial amount of time to prepare the map beforehand.
Territories would still be used as the choice plugin for block protection of certain states, villages, and settlements, except with the lack of large-scale region expansion or decline.
If text-based fighting does not result in the collective growth of our server, or too many conflicts arise out of is, we may always modify the two halves to better fit the situation of that time.
These are not all of the points to this idea, but simply some common arguments that have been brought up. For more information about my idea, please see my post (not the explanation in the OP) on page one of this thread.
*Also, you can undo and revote on the poll, just sayin.

But how would one implement it in the kiwike lore?
Well, I should have clarified more. The name Kiwike: Anew was a joke. The rewrite and start over of everything, not one.
(09-09-2012, 14:06)Leech Wrote: I really like where you're going with this, but my only thing is: How big is 'Westeros'? Perhaps having only what sounds like a single city for the hardcore RP might not be enough, and I would recommend several suburban villages, smaller than Westeros, but big enough that people may wanna hang around at the different villages for a bit. If you'd put too many people in a single city, it could get pretty crowded. I would even go as far as to say that 3-5 cities should be added, to heighten RP experience
Err... I was referring to Westeros as a world, so it would probably be around the size kiwike is now, maybe a tiny bit less.

(09-09-2012, 17:03)asdfasdflkjty911 Wrote: It is, but its so typical. Kiwike is unique! Thats why I like option two so much because its probably never been done. I know we could do it right, and it could turn out to be the most unique RP experience anyone has ever had. (being it is able to offer what ever pvp style you wish to use, as well as the element of survival minecraft AND hardcore RP with prebuilt, good looking, lots of lore towns and builds)
If we do one or three, bam, we become just like any other server. Whats the fun of that? Everyone wants to just do the same old thing? Come on guys, we have the opportunity to create something that could potentially open the eyes to so many more minecraft players (being they can get on and feel at home on one side and then venture to the other for reasons such as mining or searching for a lost temple that is required to find for a quest that you obtain on the civilized side) and create something no one has ever seen before.
Well, this is where more integration might come into play. Using my idea and combining it with Crash's, maybe we could have a 4000x8000 world. Between the two 4000x4000 is the huge wall. I do like the wall bit. I never meant to suggest that stealing and killing are illegal in one world, just that they are "illegal". You won't get banned for it, but you will be punished in an rp sense. (If you're caught )

RE: The Afterthought
It would also be cool to add a jail type thing
It would curb bans and should be possible to have a break out.

You apparently have not read any of what I have posted. It is not frowned upon to PvP, it would simply be kept as an option (like it always has).
It is not to say that the text-based fighting part would be peaceful at all - simply that they would fight with text. Nobody would lose any opportunity on either side of this map - the only difference would be how people choose to take part in combat.
You could very well venture into the PvP enabled part of the map from the PvP disabled side, but you would run the risk of running into players who would stop you and force you to give them your valuables at threat of death (like has always been a risk in Revamped).
I must repeat again, for those who ignorantly choose not to acknowledge my points; RP would be required for both sides; the main difference would be the way in which people decide to take part in RP combat.
