Last minute input here.
I don't get why people think they should be protected seeing as it only took me 10 minutes to remove some torches, let some zombies spawn and then cure them. Boom 2 instant villagers to breed. I also didn't have any armour on so most of the time was spent dying.
Also, you are aware that you can make a nice house for the villagers that is secure, right?

i agree, killing cats is a dick move, you get absolutely nothing out of it.

villagers, you can just spawn and cure, if they were protected, kiwike would have the same provlem it had in revamped, new people flock to a huge town and they claim the entire map...
