-People should create goals-

I can do that on any minecraft server I stumble upon , what separates this from x amount of servers out there?

The current server is very liberal. You can do whatever you want pretty much, except grief or hack. It isn't strictly advertised as a PvP server. What would you have me change really?

Advertisement and protection of roleplay, adaptability and /involvement/ of the administration in roleplay (but not guidance and not sole leadership), encouragement and involvement with the administration to create user-based goals and ideals, fresh map, update to the latest version (It shows I can't connect, this might be client side, I'm not sure, even when I revert to 1.6.4).

The rest is pretty much entirely up to us, the community. Server politics and plugins aside, ultimately the server is what we make of it.

What separates it is the people that you create goals with, and what 'genre' of goals you create them in.

A PvP-mindset goal is generally domination over other players. Survival is generally oriented around building a building you would be happy with and collecting ample supplies. But roleplay is something much more. Instead of you thinking about clicking enough blocks (or people) in order to reach your goal, you actually have realistic player interaction beyond just 'join this guild and get weapons/supplies so that we can go destroy the enemy'. You can found a religion based around the worship of bananas dipped in peanutbutter for God's sake, let alone come up with a viable explanation for how we can store thousands of items in our pockets and make a scientific guild devoted to solving the mysteries of the universe. You can come up with an /entirely new governmental system/, write a book about your exploits, shape something of a server that people can look back on and point to as a moment in history. The Grand War is about as important to Kiwike's historic lore as the Norman invasion of Britain in 1066 is in our natural history here on Earth. Seriously, think about it - that war was a milestone in history. That's freaking awesome. Now, name one other server that you can point to and say 'I can do that there /and/ have fun with people that are actually nice, (slightly) mature, and fun to be around!'

This is exactly what you should not have done, and what broke kiwike. Isolationism ruins sandbox games, however total structure and lack of creativity also ruins servers.
When I say Isolation, this is not advocating for smaller server size, rather a real reason for people to come together outside of old 2.0 based friendships. there needs to be that nation that unites the community through roleplay events, brokering deals and whatnot, thats what Cerentiace (sorry if i butchered that) stood for in 2.0 at least to me.

RE: Three year anniversary!
Advertisement is pretty much impossible unless we can provide something truly new and unique AND get the word out there. With the type of server you have in mind, it's just not possible to get enough attention.

Fresh map, sure I could do with that. But people always get sad when the old map disappears.

The server hasn't been updated to 1.7 yet. There isn't a stable Bukkit/Spigot build out there afaik. Bukkit released their first development builds last week.

As for the other points, I'm not invested enough in the roleplay aspects to bother. I'm way too much of a casual player. Maybe somehow I could put together a staff to deal with all the RP stuff without me, but how could I know they are doing it right? I've seen way too much abuse of admin/mod powers in the past. It would have to be a staff that I can really trust, that are really into the RP and spend a lot of time on the server. Unfortunately such a group of people doesn't exist on Kiwike. Geckosquid realized this when "working" on his Mythica server and cancelled the project. No one cares enough.

As much as I loved Cerantiace, it had all the power of Luxembourg in comparison to most nations out there. We could word things all nice and such, host some events and the like, but it was like a government without any citizens.

Well, then. If nobody cares enough, why am I bringing up such points? Why are others agreeing with such points with such enthusiasm? Listen. If you support the community, I'll personally do everything I can short of quitting college and my job to help. But only if I'm sure that this won't turn into a PvP mosh pit of random stone sword conquests. Because much like yourself, I don't want to play on a server that I don't understand or enjoy; and PvP without cause, without diplomacy and discourse and all that follows with it, just doesn't appeal or make sense to me.

Hear hear. Cerce for co- admin!
Oh lol btw bookshelf miner status!
Also on the staffing: Cerce, Idie, and asdfasdflkjty911,
One may ask what the fuck why asdf ragerageragehatebonerjelousofsomuchswag.
In response I see this: Cerce, RP hardliner(sorry for such strong terms) Idie, moderate and asdf, the opposite end of the spectrum. Thus all aspects of the server pop are represented. Each of these individuals have the moral compass of Machiavelli, in the interest of the server.

RE: Three year anniversary!
I don't know about moderating for me... Staff needs to be super nice and awesome so people will join and be like "oh yeah the staff here is great, the servers cool, I wana stay!"

Since I plan to be pretty much a dick to most people and become a rich hermit, people would get my game character confused with me moderating. The moderators need to be pretty much neutral.

I think the server needs to maintain a pretty wide PVP base, RP is fun and all but PVP is what made kiwike, kiwike. People gotta have opponents and reasons to build and expand.

That was the cool thing with 2.0, all the nations and towns where very open to manipulation. Look at Cornerstone, they continued to make annex after annex to provide room for their citizens, and it made it a very active town because people were always trying to expand and do things around the town.

I think most people now go into the server with their closed off groups and build their town of 5 semi active people and then try to fight other people. There needs to be better selection of who can make what, a capital needs to have 10 citizens to become a nation, a nation needs to have 3 towns, each with atleast 4 players.

Put in some heavy restrictions to make a town and get atleast two or three leaders who wont quit at anything to make their nations, and hopefully all those random new people that join the server for one hour will have a place to stay and decide they want to stay for more than an hour. Instead of roaming around in the wild they go to some player created place full of other players and get invited into their community.

That I think was the real issue with all the other worlds past 2.0, they were all very secluded and nobody wanted to be anybody who was new's friend.

RE: Three year anniversary!
I stopped playing after revamped, and I've not been here since god knows how long, hell, most of you've long since forgotten me. So I'll keep this very simple. You give me a great reason to come back. A server that's both different from 2.0, but also similar enough that it's still Kiwike, and I'll come back. I (personally) loved how 2.0 was, but you can't just go straight back to it. You have to mold what was good about that with what's new in the game. Do that and you'll have a server that people will come to. What exactly would that entail, fuck if I know, but I think you lot are clever enough to come up with it. So come up with it and let me know, I'll totally join back up with you crazy ass fuckers.
